As I hoped would happen, American Thinkers series on TWA Flight 800 has prompted individuals with first hand knowledge to come forward. Mark Johnson is one. An air traffic controller (ATC), he worked the night of July 17, 1996 -- the night TWA Flight 800 was destroyed -- at the New York Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON) located in Westbury, New York.
Johnson has provided me with his real name, and I have confirmed that he was in a position to know what he says he knows. He requested that I use an alias because he has children who depend on him. The federal government, he believes, will seek revenge, retribution and/or any other remedy they feel like. I would be fearful my pension would be at risk. I have heard this sentiment voiced by many people involved in this incident.
Although Johnson was not responsible for tracking TWA Flight 800, he spoke directly with the ATC who did. In fact, he asked him plenty of questions to prepare myself for the suits who were beginning to arrive. Along with several other ATCs, he viewed the radar tape of the incident. According to Johnson, A primary radar return (ASR-9) indicated vertical movement intersecting TWA 800.
An advanced radar system, the Northrop Grumman ASR-9 is able to detect a target in severe clutter even when the target has no transponder. The absence of a transponder is what distinguishes a primary radar return from a secondary one. In others words, the radar picked up a small, unidentified, ascending object intersecting TWA 800 in the second before the 747 disappeared from radar.

Here’s some of my problems. The ASR-9 has a sweep RPM of 12.5, that means the beam would only cross the aircraft every five seconds. Just fine for air traffic control, but utterly useless for determining the difference between high and low velocity explosions.
It has a resolution of 450 feet which would require a radar reflectivity of at least 150 square feet to give a solid return. Something with 150-600 square feet of reflectivity would be seen as one magnitude, with magnitude increasing in 450 square feet increments.
It has an automated declutter system which purposefully censors returns and would censor returns which would not match the expected profile of an aircraft.
So while I could see raw data recordings could quite possibly give a detection of a MANPADS type launch system as the reflectivity of the entire exhaust trail would cross the reflectivity threshold, with a projectile that would travel 2.29 miles between each sweep, it is impossible with it’s 4 square feet of reflectivity would appear on an ATC display.
It is much more likely a bogus display was shown at some point in time near the time of TWA 800’s explosion.
Trump has to bring this up if he is serious about becoming POTUS.

If a navy ship fired one missile, maybe they were firing many missiles that day. It was a NAVAL EXERSCISE and there were NAVAL VESSELS from MANY NATIONS, not just the US.
What if it wasn't a missile from a US SHIP, but one of the other nations?
What if it wasn't the missile, but a DRONE the missile was going to be shot at ?
It shows fragments exploding out from the primary target at twice the speed of sound.
Or a DRONE which has a dummy warhead.
The issue isn't who knows but who talks, and to whom.
Back then I was a pretty regular caller to Rush Limbaugh's show. When I got through, they almost always put me on. But there was a time when I had direct evidence that Kallstrom has LIED about something related to TWA800 which Rush repeated on his show, and so I called to talk about it.
They weren't interested. Rush, on his show, made it seem that he and Kallstrom were friends, and he trusted Kallstrom. Maybe, but I wonder if it was one of those third rail topics he was told to steer away from.

I was watching the news the day this happened.
There was a video that someone was taking, at what looked like an outdoor bar, talking to someone at a drink table.
Over his shoulder you could clearly see a white line shoot up into the sky followed by an explosion at the top. It was a missile shoot-down. No one can tell me otherwise.
I worked midnight shift at the time so i was asleep until the next news cycle. By then they had hidden that video and the story changed to an explosion in the plane. I was very confused for days asking people if they had seen the missile hitting it video that I saw.
The story that a fuel tank spark set it off is bogus. Take a container of kerosene (otherwise known as jet fuel) and drop a match into it. Nothing will happen.
I’m ready to believe the worst about the fed gov and the Clintons and the NYT, who enabled the coverup. Kudos to Jack Cashill for his tenacious work in this area.
I believe that the feds would threaten pension loss to the truth-tellers on the navy vessel, in the ATC tower, and in the investigative team. Threrat of pension loss goes a loooooong way to enforcing compliance.
This crap would never happen today as there are too many cellphone cameras out there, which would make it impossible for the feds to cover up their mistakes.
It has always been my belief that the Clintons covered up the real reason it was destroyed to keep from having to explain it during an election year. Just like Benghazi....................

No, the ship's 'crew' would not. IF it was a missile, which ship was it from ? An American on or one of the other nationality of vessels participating in the exercise ?
How many missiles were they firing that day ? Who would know one from the other ? How many of the crew were in a position to know or see the missile being fired ?

They found rocket propellant on the seats of TWA800, but no explosive residue. DRONES use rocket propellant, but have dummy warheads with no explosives.
Maybe the conspiracy theories about Flight 800 are “hogwash,” but my radar went up in a big way (pun intended) once it was announced that the CIA was involved in the investigation.
The CIA does not investigate airline crashes, and everyone I know who has an ounce of flying experience has described the animated video of the incident produced by the FBI/NTSB/CIA as a comical joke that defies basic laws of physics.

The CIA was used by the FBI to evaluate witness statements. It’s in the NTSB report I linked to.
Perhaps you should read the report. It’s much more convincing than the unspecified hearsay of your friends and acquaintances.
Ok, suppose it was a shoot down the drone exercise that failed spectacularly. Why not tell the American people, who are supposed to own our military? Why not mea culpa, $ to the families, sadness, mourning, openness, honesty????
Sometimes a child will kill her sibling by accident. These things happen. They are horrific tragedies. There are always friendly fire deaths. It would have been a horrible tragedy, but why can’t we know the truth??? For what reason????

Agree. Other than the brave warriors who went to the embassy and defended the Annex we have not heard from those who were there, and particularly from Bob the station chief , or the blonde haired women who called for air support.
They know who gave the “ stand down” or we can’t washington to agree on support people.....

Watch the film 13 hours to get the take of what happened and how Stephens and other might be alive today if the “ contractors” were allowed to go within 5 minutes.
Also note the quick mapping of available resources within the 13 hour timeframe, even if only for a jet flyover
They saw this unfold under a drone, so you know they knew real time what lives were at stake.
You would have to check the manifest (if it still exists intact). It would also be interesting to compare it with the ValuJet manifest from May of 1996. Also keep in mind that Ron Brown was murdered in April of 1996.

The tank was almost empty and filled with fumes. It was also heated by ambient temperatures and the air conditioning packs below it.
Yep, lots of interesting "occurrences" from that time frame.
