Some are joining blue-collar unions, getting health benefits as they grow and sell a plant theyve long loved. Some say they never touch it, but theyre standing guard outside shops and fiercely lobbying legislators in Sacramento to ensure that others can.
As public support and legalization of cannabis spreads, those whove quietly worked in Californias medical marijuana industry are slowly emerging from the shadows. And professionals who never would have considered joining the industry a couple of years ago are leaving behind traditional careers in law, real estate and finance as they flock to what they see as the next big boom.
The fastest-growing industry in America is marijuana, period, said Jake Bhattacharya, who recently quit his information technology job to open a cannabis testing lab in Upland.

My Northern California county just put a moratorium on growing medical marijuana. I am concerned about real estate values of people buying up land around here for farms.
I know someone involved in this ‘industry’.

Pitting neighbors against neighbors, causing real problems. They have those in charge greedy greedy, and Sheriff depts way short handed. All in the name of Love.

Neighbors are in conflict here. My main concern is, I
don’t want my county to be the pot capital of CA. and
I don’t want real estate prices going crazy which in turn
will raise my property taxes.
Life here in USA is changing so rapidly. When I was growing
up, one joint was a felony....who would have thought. Was
that so long ago? hmm
Since there are boatloads of money to be made, Licenses are only issued to connected people;
You should know, that you’ll only work here if you’re related to a politician.

How are businesses going to find employees to put in a full days work while not stoned.
And when your grandfather and every generation of Americans that preceded him were growing up, it was not even against the law.

You cant just legalize a little of the trade. You have to legalize growing for everybody (much as I hate to say it), otherwise it will be a mob monopoly.

I am reminded of how long ago it was, when I happen upon some of the old timers who completely burned their brains out on just the one little joint.
I truly am learning to detest my own country's people....we've become a mere shadow of our WW2 generation....
It’s not just about being a divine miracle drug. It’s also an excellent food source, paper, and cloth, not to mention building materials. Henry Ford built a prototype that was mostly made from and ran off of cannabis. But that wouldn’t have made mad moes murder puppets gazillionaires and able to conquer the world.
