One area where medical professionals should tread lightly is in the diagnosis and treatment of children who have gender identity issues. A 2015 study aimed to gather input from pediatric endocrinologists, psychologists, psychiatrists, and ethicists—both those in favor and those opposed to early treatment—to further the ethical debate. The results showed no consensus on many basic topics of childhood gender dysphoria and insufficient research to support any recommendations for childhood treatments, including the currently published guidelines that recommend suppressing puberty with drugs until age 16, after which cross-sex hormones may be given. An analysis of the 38 youth referrals for gender dysphoria to the Pediatric Endocrinology Clinic at the University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, showed that more than half had psychiatric and/or developmental comorbidities. I agree, it is a mental disorder, and doctors are doing a grave injustice by promoting that his is anything other than a mental disorder.
The author's point, and I wish I could make certain social justice warriors of my acquaintance listen to it, is that just because there is such a thing, albeit immeasurable, as gender dysphoria does not mean that anyone uncertain about their sexuality has it, and that irreversible surgery is a very risky means of addressing it. The author makes the point that allowing mandated restroom access is unlikely to help either, which shouldn't really surprise anyone. That's a distraction that turns a real psychological problem into someone else's social crusade, which is even worse.
often wondered a little about all this gender bending.....I would guess it is full of fun for the first six months, but a whole life, what happens when the fun runs out and reality sits in....I read that the 65 year idiot who changed to women, now wants to change back.....silly person

My cousin was a child of divorce. Her dad rejected her as soon as the ink was dry on the papers. Her mom took a few months longer. She took up with a prisoner several states over and moved him into her home upon his release. The kids were an inconvenience at that point.
As soon as my cousin located a doctor willing to lop her breasts off and begin hormone therapy she was on her way. Not once was she offered counseling for her issues. Shame on the whole medical community who signs off on this. That poor girl is just a suicide waiting to happen at this point and it didn’t have to be that way.
They needed a study for that?
Because it’s mental illness, and everyone is telling them it’s perfectly normal....so they don’t get their immediate feelings hurt.
And they should have gotten help for that.
Instead legal and special interest group pressure prevented them from getting that help and suggested instead that they play dress up, fill their bodies with dangerous levels of chemicals and have body parts whacked off.
Here is the Gd's honest truth. You have a terrible brain dysfunction. It's not normal. But we love you, everyone should love you, just as we love all children of Gd with differences or disabilities. Doctors are NOT going to tell you that only half (and probably less than that) of people deciding to live as the other gender are ever content. Genital surgery doesn't matter. Less than 50% are any happier. In fact, it may be very devastating, counting on these hormones, surgeries, and clothing to change your dysfunction and let you live in peace, only to find out it doesn't.
My armchair personal advice is to get help, maybe from your friends and family, since the APA is so gung ho over transgendering, a failed solution. Gather them together and tell them the truth. You look this way but feel this way. You've never been content, you've never been at peace. Life is really hard. And ask them to accept you just as they would if you lost a leg. You just have to see beyond your disability and live a life with plenty of joys in it. Dress how you want. But stay the gender you were born. You can live with discomfort. People without limbs do it every day.
