Hillary, I agree, "Trump's idea of making America great again, means taking America backwards."

Dear Mrs. Clinton:

I whole heartedly agree when you say, "Donald Trump's idea of making America great again, means taking America backwards." I remember that America very well. It was an America of the 50's when Trump was growing up, and so were you and so was Bernie. Did you forget?

It was a time...

When Americans had pride about themselves, and dressed nice to go out in public.

When you could leave your front doors unlocked if you wanted to and not worry about it.

When children in school learned about the history of our country and proud to say the pledge of allegiance each morning.

When people immigrated here legally and proud the day they became citizens of our country.

When marriage was between a man and a woman.

When the word gay meant happy and a joint was a bad place to be.

When socialism was a dirty word and free enterprise meant, thinking and growing rich through an idea and hard work.

When a buck was still silver.

When a girl could still cook, and still would.

When ghettos were neighborhoods with sidewalks where people mingled on warm summer nights.

When the American Flag was a respected symbol and never burned.

When criminals actually went to jail.

When you were not afraid to go out at night.

When television was free.

When people talked without cursing.

When taxes were only a necessary nuisance.

When a boy was a boy and didn't wear his pants where you could see his underwear.

When a girl was girl and dressed like one.

When almost everyone went to Church on Sunday.

When things of quality were made in America.

When clerks and repairmen tried to please you and wrapped your purchase in front of you.

When college kids swallowed goldfish, not drugs.

When a drive-in movie was a fun place to watch movies.

When people respected their elders, and said yes ma'am, no ma'am, yes sir, no sir, even after they were grown up.

When most songs had a tune and the words made sense and never vulgar.

When people expected less, and valued what they had more.

When politicians proclaimed their patriotism and meant it.

When everyone knew the difference between right and wrong.

When things were not perfect-but you did not expect them to be.

When our government stood up for Americans anywhere in the world.

When you knew that the law would be enforced and your safety protected.

When you considered yourself lucky to have a good job and proud, too.

When the law meant justice and you were in awe at the sight of a policeman.

When you were not too embarrassed to say that this is the best country.

When America was a land filled with brave, proud, hardworking people.

When the cost of energy was cheap and our factories grew.

When there was no confusion about what rest room you should use.

When the nation wasn’t trillions of dollars in debt.

When 94,000,000 people were not out of the work force.

When you usually graduated from high school or college to a good paying job.

When politicians didn't accept millions of dollars from money abroad.

When places like Detroit and Upper New York thrived.

When water was abundant in California because the people planned it that way.

When you worked for the government you didn't have to join a union.

I could go on and on and, Mrs. Clinton, because you see, I grew up then too, and I remember those times.

For example, I'm sure like all of us then, you vividly remember where you were when you learned that our president had been killed. We all changed that day.

So, I'll stop, and allow others on this forum to tell you why it would be a good thing for us to go back to a better America, the kind Donald Trump is talking about.

And let me make it clear how most of us in this country feel about your vision of America. Your vision is one that is like the past 7 years. The Obama years.

Your America offers more of the same for our future--no incentives for employers to employ, nothing other than a redistribution of our wealth and mediocrity. Your vision of America are empty words.

Damn; do I remember Annette, had a real thing for her (from afar of course).
Also remember walking along the banks of the Rio Hondo, San Gabriel, and Los Angeles Rivers; hunting quail and pheasant with a 410 shotgun in what is now Downey, Norwalk, and Lynwood.
If a cop stopped you, you knew he was just going to ask if you had any luck; and if so, where did you find the birds hanging out.
You just knew he was coming back as soon as he was off duty and get a few birds for his wife and families supper.
YEAH; I WOULD LIKE TO GO BACK TO THOSE DAYS.

In the 1960’s nobody was fat. I mean nobody in my neighborhood. Rarely did you see an enormous person, nowadays you see them every where.

Not all of us slick!
Some of us did the right things all along and we still got overwhelmed by the mob.

Perhaps we need to go back 55 years.

1960 will do just fine.

In the 1960’s nobody was fat.

The athletes as well.

The most striking thing about seeing a replay of the 1968 World Series, was the size of the ballplayers.

Pelican, you need to go stuff your beak with rotten fish! I'm proud to be a “Boomer” and the slackers and dopers, hippies and free love bums are NOT representative of my generation by any stretch. I served in Vietnam and while we can argue about whether it was a just war, 60,000+ good Americans gave their lives because our government told us to had to go and we did. And most of us who came back had served honorably, we picked up where we left off, got jobs, went to college, did something with our lives.

You X and Y and Millennial people had better get your houses in order before you point fingers at anyone else.

But I didn’t do enough to stop it, so I am to blame as well...

I am in the same boat.

The canned leftist freak response to that is, “Sure, right back to slavery, huh?”

About slavery, it would be a losing argument. We just want to go back to a time when black children knew who their father was and they lived together in the same house. But we'll hear about how much better things are for a variety of minorities that together might comprise two percent of the population. But for the other 94% of us (Lawyers, four percent, are also better off.) things are decidedly worse.

Ya wanna change our country for the good?

2 Chronicles 7:14

If my people, who are called by my name,
shall humble themselves,
and pray, and seek my face,
and turn from their wicked ways;

then will I hear from heaven,
and will forgive their sin,
and will heal their land.

A strange bird; the pelican;
whose beak can hold more than it’s belly can.
Frankly; I don’t see how the hell he can!

No. I’d say it’s the present day generation that is just graduating.

A more superficial, vacuous self righteous and self satisfied generation you won’t find.

You could watch television with kids or parents and not be embarrassed, not even once.

I say the “Perfect” year in American History was 1955.

Here's the sad thing: I realized that, too — in 1993. It's been steady downhill ever since. I pray for our nation fervently. We mustn't give up hope. Things can turn around, with the right leadership. We have chosen our standard bearer, and we support him every day here, and among our friends and neighbors.

IMO, the slide got a real push start with LBJ and the Great Society. The Boomers couldn't vote in 64.

I have to agree; 1964 was also the year the Kennedys started pushing through their new immigration bill that gave preference to people from the third world and discouraged people from Europe.

I vividly recall when you travel you’d throw your paper cups and trash out the window.

The Highway Beautification Act was passed in 1964 at the urging of Lady Bird Johnson. As big a boor as her husband was, she was a Southern gentle lady and contributed a lasting improvement.

Those were the days my friend
We thought they’d never end
We’d sing and dance forever and a day
We’d live the life we choose
We’d fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.

La la la la la la.....

You and NIkos have put together quite a tribute to better times and to Trump.

I would love for my Children and Grandchildren to have the opportunity to experience some of those positive times.

I think most of Bill’s “management of the economy” was really his good fortune to be Pres during the birth of the internet and technology surge.
