When she discovered she was pregnant, the 22-year-old aspiring veterinarian started calling abortion clinics in her home state of Oklahoma. It was a short list – there are only two, and neither could get her an appointment quickly.

Unemployed, no car, and still living with her parents, Pearl thought about trying Texas, but knew the state had also recently tightened restrictions on clinics.

Unemployed, no car, and still living with her parents

Does her boyfriend have a car, or did she forget to ask him for his name?

And she has two friends with unwanted pregnancies at the same time? I wonder if all 3 babies have the same daddy.

If you’re not ready to have a baby, don’t engage in sexual intercourse. Killing a baby is an incredibly evil, foul act.

Bad analogy. She's in a place where life and the love of it flourishes to enter the desert landscape where infanticide prevails. To call a place where life is preserved a "desert" is just stupid.

She wants to treat dogs and cats but thinks it is worth killing her baby to do so. Really??? I know I’d never want her bloody hands touching my pets.

“It’s ridiculous that I have to travel,” Pearl said as she waited at the clinic last week to get abortion medication. “Not everyone is as strong as this. Not everyone is made of stone. It’s stressful to travel all this way.”

Do the people who write these stories and the people who say stuff like this realize how ridiculous it sounds to a normal person?

Not sure there are all that many “normal” people left.

Obviously, the Roe v. Wade decision is to blame here -- it not only crippled the Back Alley Abortion Industry, it actually led to the elimination of back alleys!!!

Do these people even know where babies come from?

From the article she is a veterinary student. I’d assume she has taken at least 1 Biology class........

It should never be easy to get an abortion.

If abortion were to actually become difficult to get, and young women knew that, it is highly likely that the use of contraceptives would surge.

Even forcing the abortion industry to be truthful about abortion would help.

Girls like this one have no excuse. Girls, don’t choose to get pregnant if you don’t intend to have the baby alive.

Same goes for the boys, don't have sex with a girl, if you don't intend to have the baby alive.

Having read the article I say those obstacles are reasonable and not at all excessive measures to discourage abortions. '4 hours drive suffering', my foot! Probably, those women won't be that promiscious next time.

Still reading about an American who can't afford an interstate flight is wierd. Well, it's in line with their general behaviour.
