GOP convention planners are trying to deal with the fact that few governors, Senators, and senatorial candidates will be attending the gathering in July.
Along with dozens of House members likely to skip the conclave, the absence of establishment Republicans may undercut Trump's call for party unity, say some analysts.
But other say that Trump doesn't need these politicians anyway - he won without them and will go on without their support if necessary.

It did not work.
Not showing up at the convention will not hurt Trump.
I prefer not to see any of them.
So the RINO’s are going to stay home. Fine by me.
It helps him. Street cred.
Bah, most of them will show up. In the days of Louis XIV, courtiers who absented themselves from the king’s court found themselves in severe disfavor as others whispered about them so they all just parked there. These GOPe people are just modern day courtiers, they live on favor of the “king” and they won’t walk away from that over spite. Most of them will show up. Probably not the Bushes though. Just as well.
Chickensh!t traitorous wretches. Scumbags need to be hog tied, tarred & feathered.
Even if they aren't big Trump fans themselves, it would be a smart move for them to be at the convention, since after all they are expecting their fellow Republicans to support them.
If they aren't willing to reciprocate, why should the Trump, his campaign, his volunteers, or his voters support them?
Trump didn't need them to win the primaries, and he does not need them to win the general election.
May they and Billy Kristal/Kruzittes just fade away and leave America in American hands.
I will be there and our Governor, the great Doug Ducey is the leader of our delegation. It doesn’t matter the quantity, it’s the quality.
Now if we can get Ted to boycott it, we'd be all set. But he likes to disrupt. That's what he does. That's why the party and the Senate dislike the guy. He doesn't play nice...
At first, I was a little worried and disappointed that all the Bushes weren’t going to attend or endorse. Then I realized their age of influence has passed. We stopped compulsively supporting all thing Bush back when the Tea Party got started. This allowed many conservatives to take a clear eyed look at the GOP. Stay home Mr. Bush and company.
Have another cup of that cold weak tea.
I want Trump; to have as many “NeverTrump” votes as possible. However, I also want him to have as many independent and democrat votes as possible. An establishment boycott will not hurt Trump and may be an asset.
They can stay home and pout like the p——s they are.
If something terrible happens at that convention, it will be highly convenient that those Establishment people were not there.
I call it, “Addition by Subtraction.”
2008 was as much a repudiation of Bush as it was an endorsement of Obama. Hate to say it, but it’s probably just as well he doesn’t show.
It’s all political kabuki theater. Each officeholder will make a pragmatic and informed decision about whether going to the Convention will hurt them in the election. Then either attend or not attend.
Trump is shaking up the electoral map in a major way. But, as other articles have pointed out, he and his team are aware that what works some places doesn’t work others. And they are triaging and targeting accordingly, rather than trying to run a 50 state campaign.
So I’d suggest giving a pass to anyone who doesn’t show up in Cleveland, without any animosity or hard feelings. Let Trump go and win the Presidency, let the downticket candidates do what’s necessary to win their individual seats and help retain the Comgressional majorities.
Pity.
Can Trump make a rule that if network is to cover it, their pontificators have to be their and on the floor or in a overlook room. Lets see how many show, it’s easy for them to do it from DC, I’d love to see his detractors do it live in the round....
The Republican ‘establishment” led to our fascist, socialist “State” which we now live under (a Vice System (socialistic, unconstitutional, unjust “laws” and regulations).
We have to throw out the entire system (legal system) which now is a Vice System. To regain our Freedom and Justice System. (based on Rule of Law (Higher Laws/God’s Laws) not Rule of obammy (irrational, arbitrary man-made up “laws” lol). We have to end the tyranny of the evil, irrational judges/lawyers/congressmen who sold their soul to the super, sodomite elites who control their opinions and “thinking” with bribes.
Without Just Law, we will descend into tyranny always. (Cicero) They removed our Constitution in 1913—and we need to take it back for true Justice and true Freedom and Rule of Law, instead of this vile, irrational Rule of Man/Oligarchy.
