The holiday weekend is often seen here as the start of heightened violence ... That has been particularly worrying this year to community leaders and city officials, as they grapple with a rise in gun violence that has traumatized some neighborhoods and left city officials searching for new ways to subdue street crime.
"If something doesn't change, if we don’t get jobs for these kids, if we don’t change the economic situation, I'm worried that we could be looking at a blood bath," said the Rev. Corey Brooks, a pastor on the city’s South Side, a mostly African-American area where some of the shootings have been concentrated. "If something doesn't happen, I fear that we're potentially looking at one of the worst summers we've ever had."
As of Friday morning, homicides in Chicago were up 52 percent in 2016, compared with the same period a year ago, and shootings had increased by 50 percent, though the pace of violence has slowed in recent weeks, the police said. Only five months into the year, at least 233 people have been killed.

Chicago's population of 2.7 million is nearly equally split among whites, blacks and Hispanics, but most of the shootings have taken place in black and Hispanic neighborhoods on the city's South and West Sides, and the majority of the victims have been African-American.

Why? Chicago has the most restrictive gun laws in the US. There shouldn’t be any there plus look at all those Gun Free Zone signs all around.
Exactly. There are no guns in Chicago—they have gun control. How’s that working for them?
Are there any majority white cities that have these marches for peace? Pleas for peace? Basketball for peace? Vigils for peace?

Be it far from me to gainsay the pastor; but does he mean 'bring more money into the community'? If so, what: more money for the gangstas to fight to control? That's how it works, once gangs control the area and law is afraid to go in and bust it up. Otherwise, more money = more violence.
Any shootings this weekend will undoubtedly be in protest of NC’s restrictive transgender bathroom policies.

Of course, Chicago, Illinois and the Feds can't or won't crack down on street gangs because they are an essential component of the Democrat political machine.

After this weekends more violent, anti white showing of Roots, I expect violence.
These shootings are not driven by ideology. They are the end result of five decades of liberalism; fatherless families and gimme welfare mentality. You can’t reason with these people. It would be like telling my tomcat, “Listen TJK, I don’t want you harming rodents anymore, you hear? We got a deal?”
The law would probably be happy to go in and bust it up, but as far as driving around with a target on their back, with ROEs like Afghanistan, I can totally sympathize with their position.
Most of those "kids" don't want jobs. Not legal jobs, anyway. Outside of being an NBA or NFL superstar. Nor do they want to go to school and get a diploma or degree.
Solution: cut off the baby mamas' welfare checks. ...for starters.

Criminals were always considered politically reliable

The reason they don’t have jobs is they are too stupid and incapable of the self-discipline required to have a job.
