VENICE (CBSLA.com) Vandals defaced a memorial to Vietnam war veterans in Venice an awful sight on this Memorial Day weekend.
Stewart Oscars welled up as he looked at the vandalized mural located on Pacific Avenue near Sunset Court. It was covered in graffiti from end to end.
This knocked me out. So sickening. Just sadness think of all these people. Theyre gone, Oscars said. I remember the Vietnam war and how friends went to war, and bodies came back. Somehow, it has to be taught that this is not a good idea. This is actually stupid.
The memorial was dedicated to service members who were listed as missing in action during the Vietnam War...

They are, look at the Trump rallies.
I hope and pray it really gets going good January 20th, 2017....
The desecration of this mural has been a years long issue, you can see the repeated cleaning and re-paining that's been performed on the lower 8 feet of the painting, and the large tags didn't appear this week, they were there in January when I passed by it.
Someone's smart enough to use the Memorial Day weekend to bring attention to the mural, and hopefully get it back to a memorial rather than a community eyesore.
As for investigating; LAPD takes pictures of graffiti, stores it in a database, then revisits the site and may cite the property owner if the graffiti hasn't been removed.
The Los Angeles Police Department says it is not investigating the case.
WTF
Venice is like a mini SF. It’s very expensive, it’s crawling with old liberal kinky hippies, freaks and young no nothing leftist. It’s just a nasty very over populated area where the roads are always jammed.
Certain LEO’s know the ID of some by signature writings and or graphics .... they know who .... but won’t do a f’n thing .... pussies ! !
I used to live in Michigan and often rode my bike to work. It was about 16 miles each way and passed an awesome veterans memorial park.
They had a Huey Helicopter and an F-4 jet on pedestals high in the air. Once every couple years, the Vietnam Vets moving Memorial would be at the park.
One morning, about 6am, I’m riding past and decided to stop and pay my respects. There was fog about a foot deep wafting over the park.
A vet came out of the trailer to talk with me. I could only stay for a few minutes and had to get on my way. I thanked him and hopped on my bike. About 200 yards away, I had to stop and collect my emotions. I was actually crying in thanks for the sacrifice of all the Vietnam vets.
I now live north of DC and can go to the big memorial any time I want. I’m actually more moved by the portable one than the permanent memorial.
Been also to the Vietnam Memorial, the real memorial in D.C. as well years ago.
I was going to the big permanent one as the real memorial but decided they are both very real.
Wanna see something cool check out honorflightnetwork.org.
We’ve attended several of these at the WWII Memorial to welcome WWII and Korean War vets to see their memorial.
It’s an awesome sight. These old guys are so moved and happy.
There is a family of four sisters who dress in authentic 1940’s dresses and makeup who live locally and are there pretty often. It’s an amazing thing.
We have people who do not share our values to any meaningful extent, coming in legally, as well as the flood coming in illegally from those who even despise us. At the same time, there has been a media/educationalist abandonment of patriotic value recognition, lest it interfere with pursuit of "one world" humanist projects, or make those pouring into the Union, for other than admirable reasons, feel uncomfortable.
The emergence of Donald Trump, who has been willing to speak openly about some of the resulting issues--issues previously being suppressed--offers a ray of hope--the possibility of a great revival of spirit, understanding & the will to fight back, among our once proud & confident people. We will grab that possibility, or the "lights" will go out in America, like they went out in classical Babylon, Greece, Rome, etc. That result is totally predictable, if we fail to seize the opportunity provided.
Much easier/safer/more accurate to call them what they are...Undocumented Democrats.
“The bastards that did this need to be horsewhipped! AND I recommend that Veterans be the ones weilding the whips!”
Public Caning. Call up the folks in Singapore, they can help!
“Certain LEOs know the ID of some by signature writings and or graphics .... they know who .... but wont do a fn thing .... pussies ! !”
Well, why should they bother? Do you seriously think that crime will be prosecuted by a DA, guilt found by a judge (or jury!), and then a serious length time in the clink meted out “to set an example”? Really? In California?
That pic looks like this has been getting vandalized over an extended period of time.
Democrats in action, probably fresh from rioting at a Trump campaign, before the meth wore off.
Illegals. The mural has been there a long time and the dirty hippies don’t touch it. Illegals have open contempt for America and anything to do with America’s military. The style is “latino” gangster tagger.
Sickening.
I can’t say I’m surprised by LAPD’s non response.
LAPD says they are “not actively investigating”. What would they do if this was a police memorial?
