Meanwhile a woman Marine wearing her uniform attending her graduation was turned away.
i’m 75 never watched the movie
He wanted to express his African heritage?
He is not in Africa or Ghana. He was born here in the USA. What African heritage is he talking about? He has never stepped foot outside of California.
The guy is just a poser, pretending to be the Black Panther prince of Wakanda.
Sorry, not not much about African heritage justifies being proud about.
And dats da twuth.
I’m 66, never watched the movie, but saw enough trailers, blurbs, etc. to understand the point. I even got three days on the street for calling a burglar Kunta Kente when he wouldn’t give me his or ID. Good old days.
i still don’t know what it is.
“I even got three days on the street for calling a burglar Kunta Kente when he wouldnt give me his or ID”
Now that was funny!
I spent a good part of my time in Africa as an armed spreader of Western Values (guess what that means). We dealt with many tribes. I once asked a young lady here in the states if she was an Ethiopian or a Nairobian. She said how “Can you tell?” I merely said you have the attributes of one or the other. We became good friends as I explained the physical attributes of different Africans. I also know if a person is Chinese, Phillipino, VNese or Thai.
Yeah, I forgot ‘his name’ in that post.
If you're black (or a clinton) Rules Don't Apply!
To the kid: Wear your Kunte Kente cloth under the robe until after you get the diploma............end of problem.
To the Administrator who called the cops............. really? was this even worth the hassle created?
To the Cops.......... Grow a pair and tell the administrator to get a life.
A 1977 miniseries based on Alex Haley's book tells the story of African teen Kunta Kinte, brought to America to be enslaved, and the generations of his family.
He wants to express it, but he doesn't want to go to Africa and live it.
Enough of this crap.
Enough.
Get to Africa and SHUT UP !!!!!!!
.
“Something tells me he was removed for reasons of behavior. Not because of his scarf.”
Yes, he was told to remove it and he refused.
When I graduated we all quietly wore our caps and gowns. Although I think some of them weren’t fully dressed underneath...
By the way. Did you know that Kunta Kinte’s sister was a prostitute?
Her name was Renta Kunta.
Maybe he was trying to resurrect Kwanzaa?
“Meager food for souls forgot”
My wife is sometimes saying "got to do my Roots"
That what you mean?
My great granddaddy knew her!! Called her “Burnie”. She wasn’t running for anything though.
African heritage?
What exactly is it? Cannibals eating other Africans; selling those in neighboring huts to slavers? Mau Maus chopping up white farmers and their families with machetes?
Living in squalor with dogs and feces? Drinking water out of a convenient puddle? Circumcising young girls?
Chopping out young boys’ teeth when the second set comse in in order to keep him from looking like an animal?
It’s not ‘Roots’, it’s Ruts!
