Killswitch Engage - Rose Of Sharyn

Numb and broken,
Here I stand alone,
Wondering what were
The last words I said to you
Hoping, praying that I'll find a way
To turn back time,
Can I turn back time?
What would I give to behold.
The smile the face of love,
You never left me,
The rising sun
Will always speak your name.

Numb, i'm broken
Here i stand alone.
Wondering the words,
The last words i said to you
It won't be long
We'll meet again...

What would i give, to behold
The smile, the face of love?
You never left me
The rising sun
Will always speak your name

It won't be long, we'll meet again
Your memory is never passing
It won't be long, we'll meet again
My love for you is everlasting.

I mourn for those who never knew you
I mourn for those who never knew you

It won't be long, we'll meet again
Your memory is never passing
It won't be long, we'll meet again
My love for you is everlasting.

It won't be long, we'll meet again..
It won't be long, we'll meet again..
It won't be long, we'll meet again..
It won't be long, we'll meet again..

Jud Strunk - Daisy A Day

He remembers the first time he met her
He remembers the first thing she said
He remembers the first time he held her
And the night that she came to his bed

He remembers her sweet way of singin'
Honey has somethin' gone wrong
He remembers the fun and the teasin'
And the reason he wrote her this song
I'll give you a daisy a day
I'll give you a daisy a day
I'll love you until the rivers run still
And the four winds we know blow away

< They would walk down the street in the evenin'
And for years I would see them go by
And their love that was more than the clothes that they wore
Could be seen in the gleam of their eye

As a kid they would take me for candy
And I loved to go taggin' along
We'd hold hands while we walked to the corner
And the old man would sing her his song

I'll give you a daisy a day
I'll give you a daisy a day
I'll love you until the rivers run still
And the four winds we know blow away

Now he walks down the street in the evenin'
And he stops by the old candy store
And I somehow believe he's believin'
He's holdin' her hand like before

For he feels all her love walkin' with him
And he smiles at the things she might say
Then the old man walks up to the hilltop
And gives her a daisy a day

I'll give you a daisy a day
I'll give you a daisy a day
I'll love you until the rivers run still
And the four winds we know blow away

Lo how a rose ere blooming
From tender stem hath sprung!
Of Jesse’s lineage coming
As men of old have sung.
It came a floweret bright
Amid the cold of winter
When half spent was the night.

Isaiah twas foretold it
The rose I have in mind
With Mary we behold it
The virgin mother kind.
To show God’s love aright
She bore to men a savior
When half spent was the night.

The song is about the Statue of Liberty but I will select “Yankee Rose” by David Lee Roth since nothing else immediately comes to mind.

Hi AZ, Kathy.

“Lily of the West.” Haunting. Any version is good — Nana Mouskouri was excellent.

Roses Are Red

A long, long time ago
On graduation day
You handed me your book
I signed this way:

“Jane Fonda’s red, my love.
Violets are blue.
Stalin is dead, my love.
I wish that she were, too.”

We dated through high school
And when the big day came
I wrote into your book
Next to my name:

“Jane Fonda’s red, my love.
Violets are blue.
Stalin is dead, my love.
I wish that she were, too.”

Then I went far away
And you found someone new
I read your letter, dear
And I wrote back to you:

“Jane Fonda’s red, my love.
Violets are blue.
Stalin is dead, my love.
I wish that you were, too.”

Is that your little girl?
She doesn’t look at all like Jane.
Someday some boy will write
Next to her name:

“Jane Fonda’s red, my love.
Violets are blue.
Stalin is dead, my love.
I’m glad that she is, too.”

Thanks Kathy. I haven’t heard that recording in well over 20 years. I thought copyright laws stood in the way.
This is a fine song, written in an olde genteel style.

God bless my Ma. From the top of her head to the soles of her blessed feet. She is a real gem. There’s no equal to her love and caring ways.
God bless my Ma!
