LANCASTER, California — In the latest twist to this unpredictable 2016 presidential race, presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders independently agreed Wednesday night to debate each other.
On ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Trump was asked if he would consider holding a debate with Sanders. Trump agreed to the idea.
"If he paid a sum toward charity I would love to do that," said the business mogul, noting that a Sanders vs. Trump debate "would have such high ratings."
Sanders quickly responded with a tweet reading, "Game On. I look forward to debating Donald Trump in California before the June 7th primary."

It gives Sanders at good chance of boosting his percentage in the Kalifornia primary. It also makes Hillary seem irrelevant. That will damage her.
She’s in a damned if she does, damned if she doesn’t position. Joining the debate sends the message that Sanders is still in the race which she and her media sycophants have been denying.
It’s a big lose, lose for Hillary. Losing relevancy is the kiss of death for a politician.
While this is a risky move, it could also be a brilliant move by Trump. Trump will endear himself to Sanders supporters by giving Sanders a major platform to make his case to Cali voters. If the debate happens Cali likely goes for Bernie. Bernie winning Cali would be a near fatal blow to Hillary’s campaign to be president of the USA. Yes she will still be the Rat nominee but she will be a very weak candidate. Millions of Bernie’s folks will turn to Trump.
I agree. Although there is always concern when dealing with the left, this may be a brilliant move by Trump. He will likely be affable with Bernie, but will have the opportunity to win over more millennials by pointing out that he agrees with Bernie about crony capitalism and getting dirty quid pro quo money out of politics, and about some issues concerning trade etc., but will also be able to point out the failures of socialism and how going down that road puts the futures of America's youth at risk. Then there's Venezuela etc.
On top of all that, he gets to marginalize Hillary.
That would be perfect, provided Trump matches the amount!
Be watchful, tho. Hillary may call in some media chits and arrange for her-own-self to be part of this debate.

Trump will talk directly to millions of Bernie supporters. He should attack Hillary and show respect for Bernie as much as possible. Crushing Bernie would help Hillary. He is not a threat.
Hopefully they will talk about Hillary’s support for NAFTA, TPP and the wars in Lybia, Syria, Tunisia, Iraq, etc.

Doubtful, she has already declined Bernies invite. Plus if she would find herself in a very unfriendly environment. Both Bernie and Trump would go after her hard. But I agree her best (least bad really) move would be to eat humble pie and try and get on that stage too.
How can Hillary debate someone she’s saying is out of the race. Joining the debate would admit Sanders’ relevancy.

Go easy on him. Praise him. “Bernie is a good man. He sticks to his principles unlike crooked Hillary.” Soften up the idiot Berniebots. Use it as a forum to launch attacks on Hillary using Bernie’s own words.

Trump gives the Bern a free campaign ad, and Trump supplies the ratings. Neither are going to damage each other. There is nothing to gain for them by doing so.
They are going to have a civil love-in. Basically a WWF debate where it looks real enough but they both walk away in a glow of “maturity” after it is over.
Bernie potentially wins California and pours lemon juice into the paper cut that Hillary is to the DNC. She is going to look weak and detached.
This wont win Bern the nomination. It WILL pour extra gas on the Dem’s convention, though. Trump is just tossing the lit match on it with this.
