This year was supposed to be Hillary Clinton

And yet, and yet, NR still fosters this belief that The Donald must “inevitably” lose the election to either Herself, or to Bernie.
NR continues to sink into mediocrity and irrelevancy, while the tsunami continues to gather strength, which they neither acknowledge nor recognize.
Hildebeast has baggage? Who knew?
Trump in a landslide.
“And the apparent Republican presidential nominee, Donald J. Trump, is written off by most pundits as a buffoon without a chance in the general election.”
I think that should be: “Donald J. Trump is written off by the buffoonish pundits at National Review, because they like to pretend that several recent national polls show Trump ahead of or even with Hillary don’t exist.
I remember how everybody seemed to be saying how Romney was going to mop the floor with Obama in 2012.
this hag doesn’t have baggage, she is such the criminal, I’d call it cargo
People I previously admired have been driven crazy by Trump. I can understand why and don't blame them really. He's a heretic in many ways and there is a class-based disdain that certain bow-tied bum kisser have for him.
Slowly, incrementally, many of them are starting to come around. They may never be Donald fan-boys, but will do the right thing and support the nominee. I'm surprised how far some never-Trumpers have come along already.
Is VDH turning a leaf? Seems unlikely. He still rails against DT but, perhaps, with some increased clarity. He is, after all, an historian with a penchant for linear, disciplined thought. As much cannot be said of Trump. Except, of course, Trump is not a loose cannon. His shots are deliberate and well aimed. He is, moreover, disciplined in his outrageous demeanor, a condition VDH and other intellectuals miss. They may well have their best friend in DT if they are disciplined enough to accept his input and reason with him as an equal.
Anyone at this late stage who’s for Hillary is ipso facto a moron, so rational arguments don’t apply.
Do not discount the possibility, though fast vanishing, that something may still occur that derails the apparent advantages available to The Donald, and that, somehow, the implosion long predicted will still come.
Even if it has to be manufactured by some external agency.
I’m sure you have watched at least a few episodes of “Scandal”.
“And the apparent Republican presidential nominee, Donald J. Trump, is written off by most pundits as a buffoon without a chance in the general election.”
Stepping out of Bizarro World and back into our own Earthly plane of existence in our own non-alternate universe, this statement would read : “Donald J. Trump is written off by the buffoonish pundits at National Review because they like to pretend that several recent, credible national polls that show Trump ahead or even with Hillary don’t exist.
No, not a fan of that tv show.
Any possible implosion is going to take place most likely among the Dems in Philly. Get the popcorn ready, think of Chicago 1968.
Pretty going foward the Donald is a done deal.
Trump will win all 57 states.
Pretty much, going forward, to do a little correcting.
I am looking to the possibility, however remote, of an assassination attempt, much like what brought down George Wallace, though he was not killed, but removing him as a serious contender, or Huey Long, who was killed. Of even Bobby Kennedy, on the eve of almost gaining the Democrat nomination in 1968. All these were history changers, and not necessarily for the better.
It ain’t over until it’s over. And that may be 2024.
If he’d campaigned as hard against The Won as he has campaigned against Donald Trump, he would have mopped the floor in 2012.
But but but you and your pals at National Review are still voting for her right Vic? I mean you could never vote for Trump right, guy?
