New Yorks Gabriel Sherman is reporting that in addition to being a ratings and financial failure, Megyn Kellys interview with Donald Trump has resulted in her losing most of the leverage she had in her upcoming contract negotiations.
Fox executives were willing to consider 9 million viewers a success, but Kellys supposedly mainstream appeal didnt translate to the parent network, and she only netted 4.8 million viewers. It was, as one Fox insider told Sherman, not good for her at all.
In fact, her boss Roger Ailes was apparently so tickled by the fact that he would not have to pay her a reported $25 million to remain at Fox News that he was heard snickering in a Thursday meeting when the special was mentioned.
In the days since, Kelly has been working to contain the fallout. She took aim at critics on her cable show Wednesday night by deploying an age-old Fox News tactic: claiming the backlash was a result of liberal media bias. But behind the scenes, she is said to be worried about the response. Shes very upset with the show reaction, and in hindsight with how it was produced, one Fox veteran told me

fair enough
“As others have pointed out, this would seem to be more of a failure of Trump to draw ratings than Kelly.”
Not really. I had to go to a graduation, but if I had been home watching TV, I would not have watched it, because of her. I would have watched the season finale of NCIS.
I know what kinds of questions she would ask. About relationships, personalities, etc. Like a soap opera.
It wasn't on cable. It was on Fox's regular network.
She went for the ‘hard look’ just like Dana Loesch.
Are you serious? Before Kelly's attacks against Trump, Fox News was leaving all the cable channels in the dust. Now even MSNBC is beating them.
That is called a boycott.
She is not believable
Deborah Norville?
The comments there at Salon are like from another world....we really are two separate “peoples”.
Megyn Kelly took Trump on your knees comment out of context, CONTESTANT AGREES
That hatchet job question was so unprofessional and malicious I tuned her out for good
Yes. Her name completely escaped me.
I stand corrected.
By all of you. :)
My post was in error.
Thanks, all.
Considering the breathless 24/7 promotion on Fox News of her special, this result seems especially bad. As for the Fox channel, I don’t even know where it is on my TV so it’s good I had no intention of watching her either there OR her regular show. Ugh, her ego is so over the top.
Yes, your name will now stand in infamy among your fellow freepers! Go and sin no more! :)
I doubt he was thrilled with any show getting low ratings.
I have another take one it, samtheman.
Many people are so put off by Megan Kelly that they boycotted the show, refusing to give her any attention. Not all of these are Trump supporters, from what I read. Many supported other candidates, but hated they way they were treated by Fox in these “debates”.
So, there is definitely a boycott of Kelly going on, and a general disgust with Fox.
Deborah Norville is still around, she hosts one of those tabloid news shows, “Inside Edition.”
From now on I can say:
I was wrong once.
I thought Trump made a mistake.
But other Freepers corrected me.
BINGO!!!
I too was watching until she brought out that tranny. Then I couldn’t change channel fast enough.
