New Yorks Gabriel Sherman is reporting that in addition to being a ratings and financial failure, Megyn Kellys interview with Donald Trump has resulted in her losing most of the leverage she had in her upcoming contract negotiations.
Fox executives were willing to consider 9 million viewers a success, but Kellys supposedly mainstream appeal didnt translate to the parent network, and she only netted 4.8 million viewers. It was, as one Fox insider told Sherman, not good for her at all.
In fact, her boss Roger Ailes was apparently so tickled by the fact that he would not have to pay her a reported $25 million to remain at Fox News that he was heard snickering in a Thursday meeting when the special was mentioned.
In the days since, Kelly has been working to contain the fallout. She took aim at critics on her cable show Wednesday night by deploying an age-old Fox News tactic: claiming the backlash was a result of liberal media bias. But behind the scenes, she is said to be worried about the response. Shes very upset with the show reaction, and in hindsight with how it was produced, one Fox veteran told me

It’s not Trump’s place nor responsibility to care if her show gets ratings.
No failure of his. He was just responding to request for interview. She asked what questions she wanted, edited as she wanted and was to promote HER show etc.
I only watched her regular show once after people here on FR mentioned her, because I don’t watch much tv. She is so fake especially when she does that soft wispy voice to try to emphasized some thing. I wanted to throw up and turned her off. If anything I watch OANN when available.
Now that Trump has the nomination — and a very good shot at the presidency — Ms. Megan is attempting to parley her relationship with Trump into better ratings for both. Win-win. And I think Donald Trump sees that too. They’ll end up benefiting eachother if he gets elected.
Judge J would be an outstanding presence. . .guaranteed!
People want to vote for Trump and watch his rallies. No one is interested in what kind of a tree he would be if he had his druthers.
Bimbo vs Trump.
Trump won.

ME-gan is a HAS-BEEN!!
More didn’t tune in because we didn’t expect to hear anything new. We know both figures very well already. Now, if Megyn had done the interview in an unusual setting, say, from a room of people Donald had either helped greatly, or harmed greatly (in their views), that would present an element of the unknown. She followed it up with interviews from Michael Douglas, Robert Shapiro and an ‘awkward looking male Transexual.
Michael Douglas is old hollywood, literally, we already know about Mike, his father Kirk, and Mike’s attractive, bi-polar Welsh bride. Shapiro is totally linked with the past O.J. trial, which was just covered on a mini-series. Nice that he has the new business, but no big whoop.
And people are tired of having transexuals served up unbidden and out of context over and over. Old News, and News To Avoid. Add on top of that, The Donald has been on TV every day of every week since last Springtime. I don’t wish Megyn ill, but her Programming Director needs to start thinking more out of the box. You will be able to tell if Miss Megyn is truly worried about her star status if she tries picking a fight with Donald just to rehash the entire drama for more ratings. She may even beg to interview Hillary at this point, just for shock value.
Deborah Norville replaced Pauley in 1990 and did not return after her maternity leave in 1991.
She’ll be heading over to CNN at some point in the future. Its a better fit for the snarky Ms. Kelly.
Success for one of your subordinates is a success for the leader.
Failure for your subordinates is a failure for the leader.
What a change in perspective fame and fortune brings.
Tell ME that I would get 4.8 million viewers for a show and I’d swoon. And if Fox didn’t want it, somebody else would.
“salon is not credible”
I agree with that. Then they use the word “reportedly” whatever than means in their lingo.
Same here. I switch between OAN & Steve Malzberg on Newsmax.
All Faux News failed from my perspective, as I won’t even click on a link to their site let alone that their TV channel.
I don’t see how they could fail more as far as viewers like me are concerned.

Too much smug for accomplishing... Well, being a newsreader.
Her liberal media ‘friends’ are laughing the hardest!
The liberals egged her on, told her how wonderful she was doing- and she was fool enough to listen to them.
LOL!
And all the rest with better memories than me!!!
