THERE ARE NEEDS, AND THEN THERE ARE NEEDS
"The bird does not sing because he has an answer; he sings because he has a song." Old Chinese Proverb Peppermint Patty, of Peanuts cartoon fame, can be impatient at times. You Peanuts fans may recall one of those times. School was about to begin, and Peppermint Patty went shopping. She entered the store, and proceeded directly to the counter, and said, "Sir, I need some school supplies...some pencils, some paper, a loose-leaf binder, and some answers. I need a lot of answers." Most of you have probably encountered someone who continually experiences difficulty in distinguishing NEEDS from WANTS. Conventional wisdom: we need food, air, water and shelter to survive; however, we do not need exotic foods, Caribbean trade wind breezes, mountain spring water and a castle nestled in the hillsides of Scotland in order to survive. The massive explosion of commercialism causes great difficulties for many adults....those who talk about wants as though they are needs. Hmmmmmm, no wonder so many young people are confused. It is okay to simply be. Consider the bird who sings simply because she has a song. CAPT Lorenzo C. York, CHC, USN

Dear God: I ask that no Airman, Coast Guardsman, Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Reservist, National Guardsman, or Merchant Marine feel alone or forgotten.
O Israel, hope in the Lord; For with the Lord there is loving kindness, And with Him is abundant redemption. And He will redeem Israel From all his iniquities.
Psalm 130:7 & 8

Did you get more things planted today? Choir tomorrow?

We had a rainy day - no planting. Mrs. MacNessa and I organized some of the various boxes and drawers in which we have tools, nails, screws, etc.
We have Choir in the morning - this Sunday and next. We traditionally close the season on Corpus Christi.

"I VOW TO THEE, my country, all earthly things above, Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love; The love that asks no question, the love that stands the test, That lays upon the altar the dearest and the best; The love that never falters, the love that pays the price, The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice.
And there's another country, I've heard of long ago, Most dear to them that love her, most great to them that know; We may not count her armies, we may not see her King; Her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is suffering; And soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase, And her ways are ways of gentleness, and all her paths are peace."

GOD BLESS AND PROTECT OUR TROOPS!
Sir Winston S. Churchill KG, OM, CH, TD, PC, DL, FRS, Hon. RA (30 November 1874 24 January 1965)
Rule Britannia HM Royal Marines (Click)
"Having received His Majesty's commission, I have formed an administration of men and women of every party and of almost every point of view. We have differed and quarreled in the past; but now one bond unites us all - to wage war until victory is won, and never to surrender ourselves to servitude and shame, whatever the cost and agony may be. This is one of the most awe-striking periods in the long history of France and Britain. It is also beyond doubt the most sublime. Side by side, unaided except by their kith and kin in the great Dominions and by the wide Empires which rest beneath their shield, the British and French peoples have advanced to rescue not only Europe, but mankind from the foulest and most soul-destroying tyranny which has ever darkened and stained the pages of history. Behind them - behind us - behind the armies and fleets of Britain and France - gather a group of shattered States and bludgeoned races: the Czechs, the Poles, the Norwegians, the Danes, the Dutch, the Belgians - upon all of whom the long night of barbarism will descend, unbroken even by a star of hope, unless we conquer, as conquer we must; as conquer we shall.
TODAY IS TRINITY SUNDAY. Centuries ago words were written to be a call and a spur to the faithful servants of Truth and Justice:
'Arm yourselves, and be ye men of valour, and be in readiness for the conflict; for it is better for us to perish in battle than to look upon the outrage of our nation and our altar. As the Will of God is in Heaven, even so let it be.' (1 Maccabees 3:5860)"
