Mary Litwin.....Hey guys. Steve and Gerry and I met with the Social Services Doc at Flagler today, and she was so kind. It could have been a very difficult conversation, but that old fart know's his own mind, as well as anyone within listening distance all the time. The doctors agree that there is no chance that continued Life Support will get him any closer to ever coming off of the mechanically controlled assistance to live his life the way he wants to.They have assured me that he is not aware of what he is going through.
Today, I signed the papers to take him off of all forms of support. They will not be acted upon until his brother Ed can get there Saturday morning to say goodbye. If anyone wants to see him before then, I've instructed them to not limit visitation to just Family. He's the guy that taught me that Family is not solely based on a blood relationship. He is in MICU room 3057. When we let him go on Saturday, he will have his favorite camera with him. I'd take his cat and his guns too, but I think that would cause a level of drama that would seriously upset the natives, and while it would amuse the hell out of him, I don't think the rest of us would fare as well. That's one mean damned cat, just saying.
I want for him to wake up tomorrow, rip the tube out of his throat, and say "Go get me a burger and a chocolate shake. The food here sucks."
Yes, I am trying to add some levity to a really crappy situation. If you don't know my Daddy, it may seem flippant. I can assure you that it is not. My Army Drill Sarge was by no means the first person to ever tell me to "Suck it up, Buttercup. Drive On."
I will be posting this on his FB wall as well, so forgive me if you have to read it twice. Love to All.......this is from Mary Litwin Bob's daughter
Thank you for the update and the go fund me link Nully.
RIP Swampsniper.
With sadness, I thank you.
Thanks for the ping.
Thanks for the ping. If I might make a suggestion to add a couple of Swampsnipers photos to his GoFundMe page, with a description of them and what he did. Sometimes random people find GoFundMe pages of strangers and it helps to have more info and gives people a reason to care, and help someone they don’t know.
Thanks for the ping; post; information about your dad.
prayer and a BTTT for ‘SNIPER.
I’m sorry to hear this, seems all the good ones are getting off this rock now.
Prayers for him, and his family.
Hold the line Swampsniper, some of us are taking a little longer to get there.
Semper Fi.
Dang. Just learned about this yesterday.
I’m sending my deepest sympathies to his family and friends. May God provide for them as he so honorably wanted. May Gods wonderful arms welcome him to his new home as he awaits for the rest of us. I can imagine God saying, “well done, good and faithful servant. You can rest now”.
Excellent idea!!
Oh wow, I had no idea. I enjoyed him & his photos, the obvious joy it gave him to post fine shots for us FReepers.
Rest in peace, FRiend Swampsniper.
One of the good ones. Time robs us of our youth, then of the people we admire.
Semper Fi, Swampsniper.
Too true, too true.
He will be missed. I really enjoyed his nature photos and old camera talk.
RIP
I just donated and hope that others can push this total high enough to give Mary and the family hope.
Oh goodness. Just saw this, finally, on the Memorial Wall.
I knew something else had been terribly amiss...
It was SWAMPSNIPER.
We talked about old OMs and FEs and Fs,
but mostly I just admired his passion.
THANK YOU SWAMPSNIPER for giving us so much pleasure.
Thanks, null, for being a friend.
