The California Senate voted on Thursday to outlaw the sale of assault rifles with easily detachable ammunition magazines known as bullet buttons.
The measure is among a wide-ranging slate of gun control bills that is being debated as some Democratic leaders rushed to head off a ballot measure advocated by Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom.
All 11 measures would significantly tighten California's gun laws, which are already among the strictest in the nation. The measures then will head to the state Assembly.

Is this going to create a new class of “pre-ban” weapons in CA? I am already jealous of those who have registered pre-ban AR’s that don’t have to deal with bullet buttons.

Bullet buttons specifically prevent the easy detachment of magazines, by obstructing the mag release.
Also any assault rifle where you can attach a bayonet, like all those murders using a bayonet attached to a rifle.
Most Californians who have guns are already breaking one or more of their restrictive laws. It’s best to just do what you have to do to stay safe and leave obeying the laws to the liberals.

It’s hard to believe that California used to be a mecca for sports shooters.
The fact that modern sporting rifles (”evil black guns”) are used in an insignificant number of shootings—with bayonet murders, as you point out, even more rare—if that isn’t enough, a further irony about the left’s irrational hoplophobia is: the bayonet mount on 16” AR barrels is too far back for an M-9 bayonet handle to fit.
The mount is just is just there for looks, like the `skinny’ part of the barrel behind the gas block is meant for a grenade launcher.

One of or both the senate and assembly bills expand the definition of “assault rifles” to include all center fire semi-auto rifles.

After seeing the gun laws the CA assembly passed today EVERY free_
dom loving american should take into account that those laws may
only be struck down by the supreme court if trump wins. If hillary wins
those laws will become law and STAY LAW.
Hey, I have an idea. Instead of banning gun equipment, how about banning criminals using them in crimes! Illegals aren’t supposed to walk around with guns and commit crimes. Yet Gavin Newsom and Kamala Harris let these criminals walk free to commit more crimes. Better yet, let’s ban liberals like Newsom and Harris and crime will really go down.
How do you know that? Wasn't Trump strongly in favor of gun control before last June?
My brother lives in California and says nobody there should ever comment about the guns they possess.
