Donald Trump met Henry Kissinger, the former secretary of state and long-time foreign policy guru on Wednesday.
Mr Kissinger is the latest in a string of policy experts sought out by Mr Trump as he looks to reassure the Republican establishment that he is not, as Hillary Clinton has described him, a "loose cannon".
Mr Trump's "America First" foreign policy aligns in part with Mr Kissinger's realist approach, with both men emphasising US self-interest in dealings with other countries.

Yes, he’s older than dirt, but things are the way they are today, because of the decisions and policies made those 30+ years ago. Kissenger was a major part of many of those decisions. He’d be aware of the changes which have taken place in the minds, hearts and policies of nations and world leaders over the years. He’d know what their goals were, then, continue to be now, or what changes may have occurred over the years.
Kissinger was very much a part of middle east events back in the day, also. He is still frequently called upon to work on a special assignment from time to time.
I’m sure Trump realizes that since Trump has a few years on me.
It eill be interesting to see who else he consults with for a well rounded education.

I knew someone who was an intern for Dr. K. back in the 70’s before Watergate did Nixon in and according to my friend one of the qualifications as an intern was one’s willingness to play the Dutch uncle game with Henry, i.e., he liked young boys. Henry’s first marriage late in life was a sham.

Didn’t you see Trump waving at the cameras as he exited and entered the car? Press knew exactly how many minutes were spent together. What they didn’t pick up was who accompanied DJT. They had no idea of conversation between the group
At the least it was a social/courtesy call at tea time in HK’s home to show homage to the Ststesman. Nothing wrong with that
Newt said months ago Trump and Kissinger spoke often through the years. HK is in the habit of calling people to talk. Another senator said today HK called him on occasion too
