The fight over Second Amendment rights in the nations capital has entered a new phase. A federal judge has ruled that the citys concealed carry law is likely unconstitutional, citing the good reason provision in the injunction order on Tuesday (via WaPo ):
For the second time in as many years, a federal judge in Washington ordered the city to halt enforcement of its new, concealed-carry law, requiring applicants to state good reason to carry a weapon in order to obtain a permit from police. The preliminary injunction was contained in a 46-page ruling Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Leon that will be in force pending further litigation. Leon declared the Districts gun-permitting system is likely unconstitutional. The system was adapted by the District after its long-standing ban on carrying firearms in public was overturned at court order in 2014.
Yes, but they’re “common sense” gun laws, doncha know.
Me three. :)
?
Does this mean (and do we want) someone out on bail for armed robbery, but not convicted of a felony, can carry concealed in DC?
I live in Orange County, CA.
The Sheriff here holds the same standard and O.C. is / was considered a Republican stronghold.
This is a fantastic proposal.
Wonder how we get more visibility for it?
No, it does not mean that at all because of a background check before a permit is issued.
My sister lives in Orange County, CA and has a concealed carry, her reason was for personal protection.
Ok. Thanks
Maryland "Freak State" PING!
This could eventually affect Maryland law.
(((
Hoping
Come on Hogan adminstration. Get on it.
Louis Gohmert, Republican Congressman from Texas, introduced legislation to do it in 2013. Neither DC nor Maryland likes the concept so it has gone nowhere.

I don't have money to burn, but I do have time...and so I have decided to apply for a concealed carry license in NJ, in spite of the obstacles...
And I want a judge to explain to me why I shouldn't have the right to carry concealed.
So, part of my journey is to first purchase the gun I want to carry...then get *trained* on that gun...then get (3) references in triplicate....then provide a letter explaining *why* I should have this weapon
Then a Judge decides....,p> But I am going to do it....
