FBI Director James Comey knew he had to make a decision that would change his life, and maybe the history of his country, as he surveyed the piles of papers spread out in his office. The Deputy Director in charge of the investigation of Hillary Clinton a criminal investigation, not some benign security review as the Clintonistas had tried to spin it sat quietly, letting his boss think. The evidence was overwhelming. Hillary Clinton was clearly guilty of multiple felonies, and the Obama Department of Justice was not going to prosecute her. Now, it fell to Director Comey to decide what he would do about it.
James Comey was a veteran prosecutor and former Deputy Attorney General who convicted hundreds of criminals during his career before coming to direct the troubled Federal Bureau of Investigations. Until now, his integrity always came first, and he served faithfully regardless of the party in power, always careful to put aside any personal political agenda, though he'd seen more than enough people who didn't.
There's no question, sir. None at all. Shes guilty. said the Deputy Director, telling Comey nothing he did not know. He had sat in the secure classified information facility deep in the bowels of the Department of Justice when his agents had made their two-hour presentation to the stone-faced prosecutors. Clinton had grossly mishandled classified documents in violation of 18 United States Code Sections 793 and 1924. Some of the information Clinton had on the bathroom server was so sensitive that his agents needed upgraded clearances to see it, and it could only be discussed behind reinforced concrete walls in a room scanned twice a day for bugs. Clinton, because she did not want the accountability that came with using official email, had given industrious hackers and foreign governments carte blanche to pillage through some of America's most sensitive secrets. Though her loyal acolytes tried to spin it as innocuous, anyone who ever held a security clearance would go pale upon hearing what she had done.
Then there was the compelling evidence of the former Secretary of States quid pro quo influence peddling favorable Department decisions and contracts linked to cash for contributions to the Clinton Foundation, which was essentially just a slush fund that subsidized the ex-president and his wifes lavish lifestyle. And, of course, there was obstruction of justice Clintons brazen attempted destruction of over 30,000 emails. She might as well have wiped them with a cloth because the skilled FBI technicians were able to recover most of them and what they found was damning.
Well, it would be damning for anyone else. Even at that moment, there were ongoing prosecutions brought with a fraction of the evidence his dozens of agents had assembled against Clinton. At that moment, people were serving sentences for doing less with less sensitive material. And if some company under investigation had destroyed thousands of emails it had the legal obligation to maintain, the CEO would already be sweating out shower time in a federal prison.
But that briefing was weeks ago and since then there had been nothing from Justice not a word. In any other case, the grand jury would have been empaneled and the indictments already issued. Here, no one had even pulled Clintons security clearance. And now the rumor was that Loretta Lynch had decided not prosecute, and that after her election Barack Obama would pardon the President-elect for the good of the country.
It was clear that the law was, once again, not going to apply to Hillary Clinton. Now Director Comey had to decide what he was going to do about it. Would he go along quietly with something every fiber of his being told him was a great wrong, or would he make a public stand and keep his integrity?
Comey tried to stay out of politics, but that didn't mean he was unaware of them. If he was to go public after resigning in protest not even the mainstream media that was backing Clinton could mitigate the damage. His public act of conscience could very well hand office to Donald Trump, a man someone with integrity like Director Comey could only loathe. The justice system shouldn't determine an election, but then justice had to be blind, didn't it? Was there to be one rule of law for all Americans, or a special rule of law for the important and connected?
Comey could go along. He knew that's what President Obama wanted. Oh, the President was far too clever to pick up the phone and tell his minions at the DoJ not to indict. He didn't have to. They knew, and they would do it without his fingerprints on it. And if Comey played along he'd be richly rewarded. Unctuous functionaries had hinted as much. You have a great future, Director. Im sure once you leave public service, youll have many, many, many opportunities.
But if he stood up for the law, they would destroy him. Comey had no illusions about the price to be paid for crossing the Clinton machine. Ken Starr, another man of integrity, had done it 20 years ago and to this day remains exiled from elite society. The Clintons and their media minions would mercilessly slander Comey and his family, tearing down his career of public service and integrity. He would be a pariah.
There was something the Mexican drug cartels say when they try to corrupt government officials, Comey reflected. Plata o plumo. Silver or lead.
What will you do, sir? asked the Deputy Director. Comey gestured to the door.
Now alone, Comey stared out his window, and his eyes settled on the tip of the Washington Monument piercing the skyline of the city named in the first presidents honor. There was no question what George Washington would do, the Director mused. He sighed, stepped back toward his desk and picked up the phone.
I've made a decision, he said.
That too, would be fine. The question is, How can Obama siphon off the rest of Hillary’s money?
Schlichter apparently thinks he is being clever, by writing this article in which he attempts to ghost write Comey’s inner thoughts and thus appealing to his conscience.
Whether it works or not, remains to be seen.

He continued, "I'm going to indict Hillary and run for President myself."
He needs to make a decision and that decision cannot be based on who might occupy the WH after the election. Decision to indict means we have a shred of possibility that we can save this republic. Decision not to indict means we now have a banana republic. Which is it Comey?
He cannot indict. The police do not indict. They investigate.
In my opinion, this will end one of two ways.
1) Comey retires a wealthy man and Clinton is the Democrat nominee. Then the only question is; Is the United States a Socialist Banana Republic or a Constitutional Republic?
2) Hillary is indicted. Hillary drops out due to “health issues” Joe Biden parachutes in to Save the Day. Comey joins Ken Starr in exile.
Trump is maybe the only candidate who can beat Hillary, but I don’t know about Biden. Especially with Biden being portrayed by the media as the “Savior” of both the Democrat Party and the nation.
As always, time will tell.

Today, the conditions are little different than 1775. We have a king, above the law, and his court, forgiven much while the people are over-taxed and over-regulated. But where are the men willing to risk life, health and wealth? Where are the men speaking to our commitment to freedom? NOWHERE
Based on a leak last year about the meeting in the FBI there were several present and the decision was made to proceed with the investigation based on the evidence of guilt. Note that there was no indication of when the meeting occurred.
The FBI became aware of Hillary’s server about three years ago when they helped Romania catch Guccifer. Five of Hillary’s aides lawyered up around November of last year. My guess is the war of words between the White House and its proxies and the FBI finally convinced Hillary that the investigation was not going to go away. Hillary of course retained David Kendall. It might be interesting to figure out when that happened. I think that was pre-Petraeus who also used Kendall.
The roots of the investigation go back farther than is public knowledge. I wouldn’t be surprised if Comey made his decision in the first half of 2015 or earlier based on the known key events.
Comey investigates, Lynch charges and the grand jury indicts.
Another option. Clinton pleads guilty to some misdemeanor, slap on the wrist that could include “community service” that she and the media could transform into ways to improve her image.
You have to assume that the Clinton’s hold immense leverage over Obama, which is why the investigation isn’t going to result in indictment. Do you really believe Hillary would overlook taking out “health insurance” to cover this eventuality?
Fantasy Plan:
Instead of a stompy-feet resignation and making verbal statements that Clinton and her media will ride out in a week, Comey has FBI agents arrest Hillary and her minions with great fanfare, WITHOUT DoJ approval. DoJ and the media will have a firestorm, which will be on CNN, etc., 24/7. But everyone will have seen the handcuffs and perp walks. DoJ will have to explain why they aren’t indicting despite the massive evidence that will then be dragged into the public consciousness. Comey will be ordered to resign, but he can refuse and set up a public battle over the FBI’s authority to enforce the law in the face of obvious DoJ politicization.
Reality:
DoJ will drag their feet, playing Comey like a hooked bass on the false hope they will indict ... next week. They will finally do one of two things:
1) Broker plea agreements with no trials, etc, with some of Hillary’s flunkies admitting to mishandling information despite Hillary’s heroic efforts to follow the law. Bryan Pagliano and has an immunity deal, so he will be the main fall guy; with perhaps Heather Samuelson introduced to the underside of the bus also. Clinton Foundation will pay their fines and give them cushy jobs for life. Or,
2) If the evidence is so overwhelming they know Comey will go public, Lynch will make a deal with him for the DoJ to recuse itself and request a Special Prosecutor. This will require Congress to pass a SP bill, the President sign it, a Clinton devotee to be selected as SP (Jamie Gorelick?), the SP to review all the evidence and basically re-investigate the case. Oops — this will take about 2 years.
I don’t worry about that. when she is gone , so will all her baggage
Hillary’s running mate would then become the donkey’s nominee.
Since the entirety of Watergate, from break-in to resignation, took just under 26 months, I cannot help but think we are being played here.
I have NO faith that Comey, the FBI, the DoJ, Congress or any other part of our present system of government will see to it that justice will be served and the guilty punished appropriately.
sorry, I know that, just poor wording choice. I was trying to make the point that this decision will help cement what kind of country we will have, a country of laws or a country of men.
Her mishandling of classified information is too extensive for a slap on the wrist. The NSA said publicly Blumenthal sent her classified info that he copied verbatim from a source that was not disclosed.
Along with the racketeering, theres no way that can be plead down to a misdemeanor.
There are 22 million veterans in this country. How many do you think handled classified info? How many know she’s lying?
How many will vote against her?
