In an op-ed for The Washington Post published Friday, former CIA Director David Petraeus said increasing anti-Muslim rhetoric in the United States threatens to drive more moderate Muslims to terrorism.
For Petraeus, the rapid increase of ugly rhetoric against Muslims and Islam threatens to engulf even moderate Muslims. This is exactly what terror groups like al-Qaida and the Islamic State want, as it supports their vision of the world as one divided between the forces of Islam and the forces of the decadent, satanic west. These groups then seize on a sort of clash of civilizations rhetoric to drive recruitment and push moderate Muslims into their ranks.
Muslims in the West are apparently so at risk of joining up with al-Qaida, that Petraeus thinks we need to police our own speech, as not to offend them and face the potential consequence of a growing, violent fifth column taking shape in the West.
Rather than making our country safer, they will compound the already grave terrorist danger to our citizens, Petraeus wrote. As ideas, they are toxic and, indeed, non-biodegradable a kind of poison that, once released into our body politic, is not easily expunged.
"Setting aside moral considerations, those who flirt with hate speech against Muslims should realize they are playing directly into the hands of al-Qaeda and the Islamic State, Petraeus added. The terrorists explicit hope has been to try to provoke a clash of civilizations telling Muslims that the United States is at war with them and their religion.
Cooperation from moderate Muslims is a key element relied upon by the American intelligence apparatus to crush domestic terror threats. To alienate those Muslims would jeopardize the ability of law enforcement to keep the nation safe, as agents would lose important assets embedded in Muslim communities.
On the international front, Petraeus noted the successful utilization of Iraqis to fight al-Qaida during the initial stages of the Iraqi invasion. Presumably, this would not have been possible with anti-Muslim rhetoric. Without those allies, more U.S. troops wouldve been needed, resulting in more casualties.
I fear that those who demonize and denigrate Islam make it more likely that it will be our own men and women who ultimately have to shoulder more of this fight at greater cost in dollars and lives, Petraeus said.
Petraeus arguments follow in the footsteps of newly elected Muslim London Mayor Sadiq Khan that if Trump doesnt let in Muslims, Muslims will attack America.
For Western Civilization to survive, it must return to its Christian roots, push back and obliterate the muslim leaders (Crusades) and Christianize the surviving muslims. All other solutions fail, as history shows.
Of course, it is imperative to realize that the Globalists KNOW this. Why do they desire the opposite? More money to be made from war and rumors of war, terrorism, weapons, and culture decline.
I forgot to add, look at the population growth through out the centuries & how the families operate. Larger families mean more wealth & the ability to gain even more, gather more resources [food, water, shelter, minerals for wealth, ect...]Even to this day in the “3rd” world large families are the norm for the successful ones.
Hi,
Try to read primary (as opposed to revised) historical sources, true biographical accounts of Christians who lived through those times.
“Convert or Die” were the words told to my Christian ancestors (on both family sides) by their muslim murderers.
All I need to know about Islam, Mr. General, I learned on 9/11.
pussy cat
How could he not be a quisling? All he has is threatened.
We would like to consider ourselves brave, but very few are...
,
Appease the Muslims or they will blow us up? They will blow us up anyway, pal. And antisemites says Jews are cowards.
Not at all surprised that Petraeus became a surrender monkey like Wesley Clark.
Christianity is focused upon the spiritual life with God and how it is provided and sustained. It is unique in that it is provided by God to man, rather than man thinking or performing something to merit God’s favor.
Every human since Adam and Eve, except for Jesus Christ, was condemned before they were saved.
No human being is able to convert themselves or any other human being to Christianity. It is a work of God, wherein the believer exercises volition to accept His work in them.
Spiritually dead people do not understand or believe this. Those who attempt to have a relationship with God independently of His Perfect Justice and Perfect Righteousness, fail to met His Perfect Integrity.
Systems which attempt to worship God independently of His Plan, fail to meet His mark. Since there is nothing created which can be created, which was not created by Him, we all are accountable to Him in witnessing His work.
Many of these issues are studies in theology as doctrines of grace, common grace, and efficacious grace.
Even after a person becomes a believer, their souls are still scarred from worldly and fleshly sins. We all are tempted to confuse our recognition and knowledge of good and evil, as a mechanism to have relationship with God. Many worldly believers might fall into temptation to judge their fellow man and become legalistic in their understanding of Scripture. Such may have been the case of some in past religious wars, but there also remained the rights of nations to defend themselves from worldly aggression.
There exist 4 institutions established by God for man. Both believer and unbeliever may enjoy His grace in these institutions, provided they respect the legitimate authority provided within them.
These institutions include: Volition, Marriage, Family, and Nation.
Believers and unbelievers alike may experience the rich fruit of each, such as large families, provided they respect their parents, spouses, marriages, and other family relationships. When they fail to respect the legitimate authority of the family, then cursings may follow the family.
I’m glad he is out.
We don’t need beta-males with abused house wife syndrome as our generals.
What the heck is he thinking? You meet a bully, you punch him in the nose, you don’t cower and try to appease him hoping he won’t give you a wedgy.
I WAS surprised, but you are right, he is a pissant, and a coward. A totally disappointing individual. He betrayed his country.
I didn't misunderstand, you do. It has nothing to do with serving two masters they serve one and only one, unless they are apostate, which they would never admit.
I once wondered if GEN Petraeus might be worthy of consideration for President. I was WAY off the reservation.
