Obama, Truman, and Hiroshima
Real Clear Politics/Wall St. Journal ^ | May 12, 2016 | Wilson Miscamble

The White House announcement Tuesday that President Obama plans to visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park during his trip to Japan later this month undoubtedly will prompt much debate over President Truman’s decision to use atomic weapons in August 1945.

Ben Rhodes, a deputy national-security adviser, wrote online Tuesday that the president will reflect on the site’s significance but “will not revisit the decision to use the atomic bomb at the end of World War II.” That claim is disingenuous. To be the first U.S. president to visit Hiroshima is to spark re-evaluations of Truman’s action and invite speculation that Mr. Obama will apologize, at least implicitly.

Crap design killed Detroit beginning in the 70’s.

Unions and quality control issues didn’t help either. Then came dependable & economical Toyotas, Datsuns and Hondas.

My Dad told me many times that Harry Truman saved his life. His regiment was back in the states from Europe training to invade Japan.

..I've posted it before, but there was a young soldier in Shanghai in '45 whom I have no doubt would have been part of Operation Downfall and more than likely killed--my dad, and I wouldn't be here.

Thank you Harry Truman...

My father was on a Jap island waiting to invade. He was sick with malaria as well. I doubt he would have survived. My mom’s first husband was killed by a sniper two weeks before the end of the war.

Always seeking to be divisive, Obunghole is going to JAPAN to stir up anger against the US (His specialty).

And don’t think for a minute that he won’t slip a jab in on Trump to further galvanize the Japanese against Trump. Obunghole is a truly greasy politician.

Trump has deeply insulted the Japanese. My wife is Japanese and she understands Trump, but says the average Japanese person is against Trump because he foolishly said “Japan and China are taking our money.” That was interpreted literally in the Japanese news as Japanese are thieves. Major blunder.

I encourage Trump’s people to get him to clarify what he meant (actually he meant Japanese are beating us in trade). He needs to mend fences on that issue.

It should be remembered that Obama is black

he is therefore inferior in Japanese eyes and will be ignored

Most likely Japan would have been divided into a Communist Soviet-dominated North and a US-controlled South, with most likely a Civil War-ensuing, as in Korea.

Seems that the nukes were good in many ways. It sure kept the Soviets off balance for a bit, until traitors gave them the Bomb.

Which is why the Left is so upset at us using the bombs, it kept the Soviets out of Japan (with the exception of Sakhalin Island)

It should never be the official policy of the US to state that nuclear force will not be used. They exist and have a purpose, like all tools of war. They are and can be effective when used strategically to achieve a specified goal.

"Ben Rhodes, a deputy national-security adviser, wrote online Tuesday that the president will reflect on the site’s significance but “will not revisit the decision to use the atomic bomb at the end of World War II.” That claim is disingenuous."

This is the SAME Ben Rhodes who recently bragged about how stupid and clueless the average reporter is.

Watch. I bet Obama apologizes, and within 24-48 hours the media will be all in to "defend" the apology.
