Ted Cruz said Thursday that those who contributed to the rise of presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will have to "bear that responsibility going forward."
Cruz appeared Thursday evening on the Houston-based "Michael Berry Show" and was asked whether he thought he was treated fairly in the GOP primary, with the host mentioning Fox News.
"Well listen, there's time for recriminations and you know, everyone who was responsible for the rise of Donald Trump, they will bear that responsibility going forward," Cruz responded.
"But there were more than a few players that played a disproportionate role in that rise," he added. "I'm going to focus, instead of looking backwards, I'm going to focus on looking forwards."
Cruz returned to Capitol Hill on Tuesday for the first time since dropping out of the GOP race but declined to endorse Trump, who is working to shore up support from establishment Republicans.
"I think we left it all on the field," Cruz said Thursday. "My one regret is that we came up short."
Cruz said he'll address the Texas GOP convention Saturday afternoon.
"The biggest message I'm going to say is simply 'thank you,'" Cruz said.
He'll rally Republicans with a message that "although the results may not have been as we wanted, that together we started a movement and this movement will continue."
Cruz said he wasn't sure if he'd address the national GOP convention in Cleveland in July, but he indicated he planned to attend out of an obligation to the some 600 delegates he won during the primary.
"I don't know if I'll have a role at the convention or not, but I'll certainly be there cheering on the delegates," he said.
He was whining in the media, telling Texans that he, and his faithful little wife (a $700,000 globalist lawyer employed by G/S), were forced to liquidate their entire family savings (of slightly more than $1 million) to fuel a come-from-behind win in the Republican primary.
NOW TRUSTING TEXANS LEARN Cruz did not liquidate family assets.....he got his hands on over a million dollars from his hefty margin accounts at G/S and Citibank......and did not disclose this on FEC reports (to keep it a secret from trusting Texans).
Cruz did not disclose loans on FEC reports (required by law) b/c Texans would have discovered he was not the aw-shucks rube he pretended to be. He continued the rube act in order to milk votes from trusting Texans.
At the same time, he also did not disclose he was a Canadian citizen......the Harvard-educated lawyer w/ two Ivy League degrees said he didn't know.
When the Dallas Morning News published Cruz/s Canadian birth certificate, Cruz put trusting Texans through the charade of renouncing his Canadian citizenship.....even though Canada did not recognize dual citizenship at the time of his birth.
=============================================
Nowadays, these onetime Cruz supporters in Texas are airing their gripes----many are p!ssed at Cruz for not disclosing that as a Senate candidate, he was still a Canadian citizen. And is now expecting the whole country to rationalize that he's a NBC and eligible for the office......
Cruz got clobbered a long time ago...he just hasn't hit the floor, yet.
Cruz’s claim to fame was following the ‘original intent’ of our Constitution. Even Larry Tribe the liberals lawyer of Harvard spoke of how Cruz played the ‘original intent’ card of the Constitution while a Harvard student. But Cruz flat out lied. He required an exemption for himself from ‘original intent’ to hold the office of president. Furthermore NONE that use to claim that Cruz follows the ‘original intent’ of OUR Constitution say that any more.. NOW they call him a consistent conservative... Cruz is rotten to his very core.
And when Mitch the Senate refused to resolve that Cruz was eligible to hold the office of president like the Senate did for lord McCain, Cruz threw a fit and called Mitch the Senate a ‘liar’.
Unfortunately, Cruz has enough of a following that Cruz still believes himself a player... Cruz is NOT going to bow out 'grace'fully... He has that Obama entitlement gene.
He’s nauseating.
I wonder how many more will go.
Cruz is never going to stop campaigning for POTUS. Ever.
How do current or former Cruz supported feel about the tact Ted is taking?
Those are good points. There’s not a snowball’s chance Cruz doesn’t know what the Framers meant by NBC—and it wasn’t born in Canada to a Cuban father.
Of course supporters say Cruz’ mother was an American. This is speculation, however, since we’ve never seen the Consular File for Ted. Funny, how he could be a Canadian citizen for forty-four years of his life and still claim to be a NBC of America...
So much we don’t know. We can only hope the facts come out eventually.
Cruz has a very self destructive personality. I do not see him as having a great political career ahead.
And some call us Trump cultists... At least Trump is eligible to hold the office.
Better than bearing the responsibility of voting for yet another GOP hack and continuing their nonsense
When Cruz stops trying to sabotage the election, we’ll stop slamming him.
Simple as that.
That was actually the Cruz lie I had in mind—the fact that he said, according to some originalists, that Trump wasn’t a NBC because his mother was born in Scotland. I.e.: the fact that Trump’s mother was a US citizen at the time of Donald’s birth didn’t count; the fact that she used to be a Scottish citizen disqualified Trump as a NBC.
Honestly, that Cruz lie made me so angry I couldn’t see straight. NO reputable originalist believes that—and Cruz knows it. It was a smear on originalists, making us out to be stupid and ignorant.
It was far worse than that, however. For a knowledgeable person like Cruz to make such an idiotic claim, there can be only one explanation. Namely, his motivation in putting forth that lying twaddle was simply to drag Trump’s mother into it. He was hoping Trump would shout, ‘Leave my mother out of it!’ If he had, Cruz would have said he didn’t have the temperament to be POTUS. It was grotesque.
Cruz’ lies reveal a very mean, troubled person. We can only hope he gets help, and emerges from all this a more decent, integrated person.
yesterday
Yeah no kidding
1) Might restart “campaign”
2) Blaming Fox News as if they helped Trump (good gosh).
Shut up already, Ted.
Yep.
[Agree with you a hundred percent. Cruz appears to despise Trump with a burning passion, and doing what he can to sabotage Trump at the convention fits Cruz MO to a T. This is one reason Cruz is so roundly disliked by those who know him well: he has a history of putting self-interest/self-promotion above all other considerations.]
Correct.
[When Cruz stops trying to sabotage the election, well stop slamming him.]
Agree 100%.
Me too! :-)
