Cruz: Those who bolstered Trump 'will bear that responsibility going forward'
The Hill ^ | ay 12, 2016, 09:45 pm | By Jesse Byrnes

Ted Cruz said Thursday that those who contributed to the rise of presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will have to "bear that responsibility going forward."

Cruz appeared Thursday evening on the Houston-based "Michael Berry Show" and was asked whether he thought he was treated fairly in the GOP primary, with the host mentioning Fox News.

"Well listen, there's time for recriminations and you know, everyone who was responsible for the rise of Donald Trump, they will bear that responsibility going forward," Cruz responded.

"But there were more than a few players that played a disproportionate role in that rise," he added. "I'm going to focus, instead of looking backwards, I'm going to focus on looking forwards."

Cruz returned to Capitol Hill on Tuesday for the first time since dropping out of the GOP race but declined to endorse Trump, who is working to shore up support from establishment Republicans.

"I think we left it all on the field," Cruz said Thursday. "My one regret is that we came up short."

Cruz said he'll address the Texas GOP convention Saturday afternoon.

"The biggest message I'm going to say is simply 'thank you,'" Cruz said.

He'll rally Republicans with a message that "although the results may not have been as we wanted, that together we started a movement and this movement will continue."

Cruz said he wasn't sure if he'd address the national GOP convention in Cleveland in July, but he indicated he planned to attend out of an obligation to the some 600 delegates he won during the primary.

"I don't know if I'll have a role at the convention or not, but I'll certainly be there cheering on the delegates," he said.

I do not trust the man. What has he ever done to suggest that he is anything more an opportunist and self-aggragandizer? A demagogue who is riding a wave of anger to a place of uncertain ending. Andrew jackson has fallen out of the favor of a public that forgets what Americans of he period after 1815 never forget, that he saved the Mississippi Valley for the American Republic. What has Trump done that is comparable? He is no more than the spark that lightened the first. Sort of like the fellow who lit the fuse to the first cannon shot on Ft. Sumter. Hope his war ends up better than that one.

longtermmemmory said it well in a prior post.

Did you get mad at voters who voted in the primary to support McCain or Romney over your candidate? Did your candidate in those primaries come out and say the McCain or Romney voters bear the responsibility for what now happens to the country from McCain or Romney?

When you think about how you and the losing candidates accepted the past situation, you see that Cruz is being petty.

I was glad to vote for those RINOs over 0bama in the general election. I'm sickened we still have 0.

The N.Y. primary is a closed one. Had it not been, many of the people who are registered Dems, Indies, and one of the 20+ other parties in N.Y. state, would have voted for Trump; you uninformed, uneducated, political naif, Cruz cultist.

Reminds me of when a FReeper’s Opus damned all the Trump supporters to hell.

At the time I was souring on Cruz because I didn’t see a path for him to get the Delegates required. I was a Cruzer from the get go and always thought he was the smartest guy in the room no matter what room he walked into.

My dear Late Mother used to say “some people are so smart they’re stupid” It is sad to think that applies to Cruz.

I honestly have no idea how Cruz thinks any of these antics will help the Republicans come November. I am perplexed.

Would you just please stop. Your posts sound just like a sore loser’s would. A record number of Americans voted for and trust Trump. Get over it!

If you don’t want to help defeat Hillary at this point, move out of the way and let us do the heavy lifting.

Robby, I suggest that you tell that to JR and be ready to smell the ozone!

Trump is a true patriot who LOVES this nation and her people and wants to save it and us from the brink. He has also done a LOT of things, quietly, never looking for adulation; unlike Cruz who is nothing more than a FRAUD a LIAR, and an egomanic who has NEVER accomplished anything other than getting elected to the Senate.

Ted’s not a bad guy and I want him to stay in the Senate to help support good government.

Trump and others got the best of him, so he’s hurt. But sometime, as an adult, you need to move beyond.

Ted is crossing into a time period in which his unwillingness to help the country’s mutual cause starts making Ted looks like he’s got a “golden boy” immaturity grudge.

This was the last day of the 100 day Free Republic Caucus.

Use the links. Look around.

Tead got his ass handed to him on Free Republic.

The majority spoted him for who he was.
