The longer it takes the GOP to unite around Trump, the more divided the Party beccomes. It is fine to give Ryan some room for face-saving, but you reach a point where you must tell the Chairman of the Convention, endorse me or get out of the way. This needs to happen prior to the convention.

I hope that Trump does not back away from his signature issue of immigration. I know that the GOPe is diametrically opposed to deportation and the Wall. They want outreach to Hispanics. If Trump does that, it hurts his appeal to non-Hispanic whites, blacks, and blue collar workers. Ryan is for amnesty and against building the Wall. He wants to increase the guest worker programs and he supports these multilateral trade deals that also increase the importation of more foreign workers.

There will be platform fights over these issues.

I don’t think this is the WWE. The divisions are real and there will be a battle over the platform. The sooner Trump lays down his markers, the better.

> “To date ....”

Yeah, to date. And more are accumulating because voters are pressuring their reps.

Ryan is hated, is a known liar, is not persuasive nor inspiring, has no real world experience except driving an Oscar Mayer Weiner Vehicle, has no achievements in Congress, is a coward and a sellout. The list could go on.

He is now being primaried by a very credible challenger and his only solace is his lifetime pension and perks that Congress voted themselves in the past, and for which he did nearly nothing to earn.

Screw Ryan, no one needs him. Soon he will see that obeying Romney will risk much more than he figured and he will be begging Trump for help. Donald will not endorse him but will make a show of his being a unifier.

Ryan will be gone.

Settle down folks, Ryan knows the only leverage he has against Trump is this endorsement

But this is typical of RINO Ryan. He rolls over for Obama but makes the Republican running for President jump through hoops. Ryan continues to show himself as a left of center RINO who is more caught up on policy than he is with the big picture of what's happening to the United States.

What he should have said is I will support Donald Trump as the Nominee of this party but he and I have a lot of work to do to unify our party. To that end will will be meeting on a regular basis to make that happen.

Because Ryan didn't do that I will be sending some money to his primary opponent. Maybe that will wake him up to how much damage he has done to this country.

Still needs to be primaried. Retire Ryan.

Ryan wants Trump to adopt his plan to cut social security, open borders, trade deals where we are taken to the cleaners, cheap labor express, H1b visas, fund Obamacare.

Seems to me the primaries leaders were all outsiders, and Ryan sat this out.

“Ryan has a primary challenge to think about; if anyone should be hunting for an endorsement at the moment, it is the Speaker if he wishes to keep his job...”

Don’t oversell yourself on this argument, remember WI is the place where the GOPe made its stand against Trump solidy... they have a well organized and well oiled machine there... I would not remotely expect WI to suddenly after being whipped up by the GOPe in the nevertrump camp that they are going to vote out Ryan for not jumping onboard with Trump right away.

Ryan is safe, I really think the dreams of a ousting of Ryan in the primary is a complete misreading of things. I don’t think Ryan is going to be “taken out” by external money and forces mad at him, any more than the externally funded and backed recall efforts did in WI... WI is WI, they aren’t going to yield to outside forces and will rally against them.

Best any national movement could hope for regarding Ryan in the shorter term, would be to try to oust him as speaker... that’s a long shot as well, but you have a far better shot at that, than taking him out in the Primary in WI IMHO.

As I said elsewhere, WI isn’t going to yield to outside money or influence, the primary challenge to Ryan will go down in spectacular flames.

WI has already shown quite solidly that its not on the Trump bandwagon as a whole, the GOPe and Nevertrump rallied the machine there hard and won big. The state has also shown outsiders they aren’t going to put up with their external meddling etc in the recall elections and the re-election of Walker. Ryan is in no risk politically, at least within his state, for not just jumping on the Trump train.

National mood isn’t going to take out Ryan, in fact the more outsiders try to meddle in WI, or are perceived to, the more they will dig their heels in against it.

Ryan’s doing what he has to do, and frankly all of this is just contrived drama by the press.... this is 24/7 news cycle nonsense... nothing more.

Now, if folks want to, as a national action, want to do something about Ryan, your better off trying to get someone else elected speaker. That’s a long shot proposition as well, but its a more likely goal than thinking Ryan will be taken out in the Primary.

There several several reasons Trump lost Wisconsin and Cruz being the better candidate was not one of them.

Trump had a very bad two weeks up to that primary with the Corey Lewandowski problem, the Abortion question from Chris Matthews, you name it. It was Trump’s big stumble in the campaign. Now of none of those things had happened he probably would have beat Cruz. He didn’t and he recovered and has won the nomination.

Ryan may very well a problem in his district and as has been pointed out he has lost his own hometown twice in the since 2012. He has a very tough primary fight.

This wimpy statement came out because Ryan could not get trump to capitulate to Ryan.

Ryan is playing checkers, Trump is playing Chess.

Cruz had nothing to do with Trump losing WI.... Not sure why you are implying I said it did.

Trump lost WI because the GOPe and State machine there are well oiled and battle tested and they were mobilized to the anti trump/never trump side of things... Trump had no shot in Wi once the machine was mobilized.

if the GOPe had machinery like they have in WI in all 50 states, Trump would have never gotten out of the gate, and Republicans would never win a national election.

I doubt Ryan is at any risk in WI to a republican primary challenge, and frankly the harder outside forces try to influence WI the harder they fight back. If you haven’t learned that through the Walker years, I think you are quite naive.

look at the net result of this.

The house members are lining up behind trump.

Ryan did not line up.

He will have to line up but then he will be a follower in the house instead of a leader.

If he fails to endorse (and it will be a failure) then the primary he is facing becomes more interesting.

Wouldn’t your time be better spent doing something besides engaging in personal attacks? Don’t you have anything constructive or substantive to add to the thread topic?
