Ted Cruz isnt giving up.
While Donald Trump dispatches three advisers to Texass convention in Dallas this week and makes a pitch for party unity, his team will be running up against a Cruz operation that is still maneuvering to stuff the states delegation with allies the senator could call on to snub the presumptive nominee.
We have a busy weekend planned, said a source familiar with the Cruz campaigns plans.
Cruz is scheduled to deliver an address at the Texas convention after a week of hinting he could jump back into the presidential contest and urging activists to thwart the New Yorkers takeover of the GOPs policy platform. And despite dropping out of the race more than a week ago, the vanquished presidential contender has deployed at least one paid adviser to the Texas Republican convention Tyler Norris, his state director. (Trump has three advisers: state director Joshua Jones, deputy director Eric Mahroum and Houston-area director Kayla Hensley.)
Its not just Texas where Cruz is still playing.
The senators team remains active in several of the other eight state conventions selecting delegates this week from Nebraska to Oklahoma to Nevada. Those conventions, along with party meetings in Arkansas, Florida and Wisconsin, will be selecting 389 national delegates, nearly a sixth of the entire convention.
If Cruz were still working to send the nomination fight to a contested convention, this weekends delegate hunt would have been the main event the largest single delegate selection weekend of the primary season. Now, its become a display of Cruzs last hardcore bastions of support and a forum for Trump to appeal for unity.

He’s turning into McCruz.
The Cubnadian poser needs to get the hell out of MY TEXAS!
I am really beginning to dislike the Cubanadian.
Good point. I think there is something more serious with his mental condition than we thought.
Maybe the staunch Cruz advocates here can shed some light on Cruz' strategy.
Looks like the Texas deadline for independent filing for POTUS is June 23.
Another option is grabbing the Libertarian nomination.
Their convention is end of this month.
“Narcissistic personality disorder.”
Bat crap crazy!
This guy has been brainwashed buy his supporters and talk show host pals.
Sometimes one has to just trust gut instinct. My gut told me Cruz was a dangerous charlatan. Had him pegged.
“Todays email: Theyve prayed for direction”
So they don’t tell you they are plotting a coup at the convention, just send money!!
“So....give whatever you can to help Cruz keep his conservative vision alive.”
Both of them were at the Kentucky Derby last Sunday and they were in the section called Millionaire’s Row... at least $2,750 each plus. Yup ..keep the vision alive.
So glad that Ted and Glenn and Mark and some of the folks here are delusional enough to think this is helpful
Lyin’ Ted was always and still is a Bush Establishmentarian.
Like the Bushies, he is not to be trusted.
The Primaries simply unmasked the canadian phony.
“This guy has been brainwashed buy his supporters and talk show host pals.”
I think it’s the other way around....he and his father are the leaders of a cult. I’m glad Trump went after his father.
If anyone knows about men talking gibberish without pants it would be Amanda Carpenter.
Pray America wakes
Cruz wants to take control of the party platform to be a thorn in Trump’s side.
I’m curious what he thinks the arty platform should be. He took many of the same stances as Trump during the campaign but I guess he was ... LYING.
What is the saying? Familiarity breeds contempt. I voted for Ted Cruz here in Texas and now am wondering. He needs to tend to his office as our senator. Remember that Ted? Remember what we elected you to do.
His crazy old man Rafe has had him pegged as the annointed one for years - I think ted has attended a number of those rallies
“tempest in a tea pot “
Yes, there are plenty of good reasons for this.
The obvious one is that ‘his’ people just want to go to the convention!
He has missed more than 94% of Senate votes this year. https://www.govtrack.us/congress/members/ted_cruz/412573
The problem isn’t the platform, it’s the rules committee. The platform is his excuse.
