Former Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz returned to his job in the U.S. Senate on Tuesday with a warning to Washington that the turbulent primary race was a wake-up call.
"All across this country people are hungry for change. This election cycle should be a wake-up call to Washington, D.C.," the senator from Texas said outside his office. "The frustration and volcanic anger with Washington was echoed throughout this election."
Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump and Democratic U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders have upended expectations in their respective presidential campaigns, tapping into voter anger at establishment politicians in Washington. Cruz, a favorite of the conservative Tea Party movement, also tried to position himself as an outsider.
However, he dropped out of the Republican race a week ago after a crushing loss in Indiana and a brutal campaign in which Trump attacked Cruz's wife and father and constantly derided the senator as "Lyin' Ted."
Cruz ruled out a third-party candidacy, and said the democratic process had run its course............
Cruz may be hoping to put his conservative imprint on the party's July 18-21 national convention in Cleveland.
On Monday, he said he would not release delegates he had won in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas, according to news reports.

Since the anger has been directed to the uni-party in Washington, then Trump has been successful - thank you Senator, and THANK YOU MR. TRUMP!
Ted continues to reach new heights of douche-baggery.
Ted needs anger management therapy.
Obviously Captain Obvious has left the FR room.
Your reasoned sanity is unrecognizable.
The FR Pavlovians hear the word Cruz and bare their fangs.
No reason to read the article - just do the “Reactionary Pounce” on a name or word.
What do you see from the OP that would bring down the Zot?
LOL!
Me too.
:D
Trump will win the presidency in a landslide and have long coattails for the Republican Party. The driving force is the anger at the elites running the country into the ground. We want some real hope and change, not despair and more gov’t intrusions into our lives.

I read the article. This suggests his campaign sparked the "Stop Trump" movements. That is, he was a causative of same. Therefore, when he suspended his campaign I would have expected his support for Trump given his sparking candidacy. Instead, zero. He's a bloody weasel.
Senility is destroying your feeble mind.
Talking horses should be forbidden to type.
He could bring his snakes for handling and talk in tongues.
But some of the posters here are getting to the place, that they can’t even be civil without making religious insults toward Cruz.
Some posters here have been for quite a while sounding like posters from DU when it comes to taking swipes at evangelicals or groups of religious people.
I don’t know what you point you intended to convey when you threw in the “talking in tongues” phrase in...
But just so you know...according to this article about 22% of congregations in the US speak in tongues.

And I know there are a lot of people who “speak in tongues” support Trump.
This is what Cruz said:
“The frustration and volcanic anger with Washington was echoed throughout this election.”
Certainly you agree with that, right?
If he acknowledges he was part of the problem, yes.
Look at the names involved, from Kristol to Brooks to Matalin to Noonan on the "conservative" side. Look at the institutions involved, from the NYT to the Washington Post to CNN, AP, etc, etc - these are all scrambling furiously in exposition of some reason for this dissatisfaction other than their own performance. Cruz might as well have saved his breath - they're not listening and will still be rationalizing the whole thing away after they get thrashed in November.
What will come will no doubt be described as a "wave of repression" from the current offenders. The same Free Speech that they've done their best to shut down will once again be accorded a golden place in the political pantheon because it's their free speech that matters and no one else's - that's one of the main issues. Certain political cudgels we've come to detest will go out of fashion for awhile: the persistent accusations of racism, of privilege, of bigotry against whatever bizarre splinter group the perpetrators can conjure up - those clubs will still be there awaiting another environment as congenial as the 0bama administration's has been. The thugs and the fakes and the bullies won't go away; the best we can hope for is that they'll be a little quieter for a time.
Or a wave of very real anger, unaddressed and unabated, can sweep through the whole rotten system and cause real damage as well as real good. If the DC establishment doesn't start listening, and the argument that it's already too late is getting difficult to contest, that's likely to happen and that can spin out of control very quickly. Revolution is exciting until you have to clean up afterward.
OMG that was so funny!
Well, when Trump gains 1237 delegates in Cleveland then we will see if any of the candidates go back on their word to support the republican nominee.
I don’t think any candidate has released his delegates yet.
Not Kasich, not Rubio, not Jeb!, not a one. Why should Cruz?
I know for sure Trump wouldn’t surrender his delegates to Cruz if the show was on the other foot. And yes, the game is still afoot.
I doubt he will endorse him even after the convention, he is #NeverTrump and they were his most generous PACs to the tune of millions. He has himself in a difficult position and will follow the money, because that’s who he is and always has been. He is a snake and a weasel and a dingo all rolled into one. Just like man-bear-pig.
“Asked if he would endorse Trump, Cruz said every voter needs to make their own choice and they do not need to make it now.’
“The Republican convention isnt for another two-and-a-half months; the election isnt for another six months,” the senator said. “I think we need to watch and see what the candidates say and do.”
There is no way he could reenter the race and win anything, he is only in place to damage Trump.
And if Ted’s not done. We’re not done either. There is much more to Raphael B. Cruz than what has surfaced thus far. Ted’s family is already mired in lies, he has no way to go, but down.
???? I suppose you can tell a lot about a person when they attack people for being Christians. Why do even like Free Republic?
Sorry, it just gets a bit tiring to see so many Freepers acting worse than DU folks.
You have much to learn about the process of the convention. Good luck, you will need it.
