One of the nations top traffic safety organizations is issuing an urgent warning about driving while high. AAA says that in some states that have legalized marijuana, fatal accidents involving drivers whove consumed pot are on the rise.

Plus, a nation goes to pot.
This is my shocked face. #:^0
If you have a few drinks, in three hours you could be ready to drive. After pot you’d have to wait til,the next day.
Prove it. I live in CO. According to this, we should be seeing pot related fatal accidents on the regular. The facts show otherwise. This is BS propaganda.
Where are the statics which show how many were at fault in these collisions? More serious collisions have investigations, statements, witnesses, images, etc, where is the documentation?
Er, statistics.
Q:How’s your crime rate?
A: I KNOW it has climbed.
Have traffic fatalities gone up, or are police simply testing for marijuana more often?
Why? I have never had a high that lasted more than a few hours?
Nah. Just tryin’ to make tokers look bad. Can hardly wait until it’s legal in NV come 1/1/2017. I got no doubt the stoners will get the ballot Question #2 passed with little problem.
If someone is intoxicated and they cause an accident, lock them in prison. That’s how you instill responsibility in a society. Not by passing laws forbidding everyone else from being intoxicated. (see alcohol)
Still plenty of Potbots on the FR I see.
I can only dream of a world without “millinials”.
“If you have a few drinks, in three hours you could be ready to drive. After pot youd have to wait til,the next day.”
Maybe that’s true for someone smoking pot their first few times but on average that’s not true. I’ve known many people that run, play sports, etc and show perfect coordination right after smoking pot all day. Or get up for work 100% fine after smoking all weekend. Never met anyone that can do such things after an entire day(s) of heavy drinking
Most tests/studies have shown pot does not lead to as much impairment as drinking. Some have shown it is equal to alcohol. NONE have shown it is worse. Including live driving tests on obstacle courses. Even when consumed in maximum quantities.
Also, there are countless Rx drugs that FAR more impairing than pot and consumed every day by many people. Plus when mixed with tiny amounts of alcohol, some of these drugs cause acute blackouts. Yet we are not calling for “breathalyzing” people for these Rx drugs at traffic stops
"linked" is a pretty meaningless term in this regard.
Depending on what they're using to test the drivers, it could be up to a month before you don't show up as "having consumed marijuana".
Pot is a depressant. As such, you tend to s l o w down, you can easily find the driver on pot, they are in the slow lane 10 mines under the speed limit, looking for McDonalds or Taco Bell.
Remember the joke on the Taxi TV series where Ignatowski was a model student in college and turned into a brain dead zombie after he started smoking pot?
There is a lot of truth to this. I personally have seen it. Very sharp people end up being brain dead bums for many years and it all started with pot.
Since they like statistics, how many of these fatal collisions were the fault of those allegedly high? You’d think this obvious statistic would have been included in the story, but I don’t see it anywhere.
