W. Bush and George W. Bush will not endorse Donald Trump, their spokesmen have announced.
Presidents 41 and 43 said they would not back Trump, despite him becoming the presumptive nominee after his two Republican rivals dropped out of the race for the White House.
Both of the former commanders-in-chief joined a growing list of prominent Republicans who have refused to back Trump's run for the presidency.

Would you believe it if they did?
I think the legacy of Bush Sr. is "Read my lips..." The lesson was simple: the fastest way to undermine the President is to get him to reneg on his signature issue. Bush lost it when Democrats convinced him to raise taxes.
The message to Trump is that he cannot compromise on building the wall. He can't move to an e-wall or some other virtual policing of the border when people want the physical thing in place. What he can do is leave gaps in treacherous or hostile desert terrain, while focusing the wall in high traffic areas, but he has to deliver on his signature promise or his voters will turn on him as just another Republican liar who will say anything to win.

Best endorsement of Trump yet.
Being anti-matter is actually a very powerful position if used correctly. The power of reverse psychology. Harry Reid or Obama could and probably have used that same thing against conservatives.
Trump destroyed whatever might be considered the "Bush Legacy" when he went off on Jeb about Iraq during the South Carolina debate. That had to sting.
And politics aside, Jeb is still part of the Bush family, and I'd have a hard time pimping for a guy that killed off my brother/son.
There's something there, but I don't know enough to understand what it is.
When this season of our Kabuki Theatre and Political Show launched with their 2016 Special Primary mini-series, I was already changing the channel.
Bor-ring....but then the new Trump character was introduced and I haven't missed an episode yet so far this season!
Since then, the writing has been pretty good with lots of humor and drama and this season viewers have learned more about the Cruz character who was introduced a few seasons ago.
They've really developed him in this primary mini-series, along with tossing out a few tidbits about his and his wife's long relationship with the Bush family, his father Rafael Cruz and his youthful activities and possible allegiances after siding with communist Fidel Castro durning the Cuban revolution and then leaving Cuba for Texas, all while leaving behind the scent of possible connections to the elder Bush and his CIA for the curious to follow.
For mystery lovers like me, their adding the Cruz family mysteries to the Bush Family and the changes in America since Bush, the younger, and 9/11, followed by the fundamental transformation since obama took over from GWB was genius.
Like I was saying, the writing's been good this season. Definitely NOT boring!
For me, the subplots and tension with Trump and the Bush Family is undiscovered country and the mind loves the darkest mysteries in the highest places.
Anyhoo...this has got to be one of the highest rated, most watched seasons yet! Probably too dark and scary for snowflakes or children, but it is what it has become. What will be, will be.
Is that because he beat your son or brother like a drum?
I’m sure El Rushbo will use this as a negative for Trump. Rush loves him some Bush’s!
'sides, their endorsement is worth a spittoon full of used chaw.
So glad the Bush era is over.
Even if we somehow lose GOP majority in the Senate, Trump will leverage his mandate from the people...making those Rats up for reelection in two years quake in their boots. (similar to what Reagan did early in his first term to make the congress go along with his tax cuts).
Can’t you just imagine Trump making a national address from the Oval Office letting the people know the Rats are holding him up on building the wall, or stonewalling his changes for fair trade? Talk about the phones ringing off the hook in DC!
Bottom line, Trump will have his majority even if control of the senate is lost this year.
If Newt said that, then I was way wrong about him being a good chief of staff for Trump. It’s like asking for a little cancer.
Heart breaking, and most depressing every time I think of it.
“Might as well give a fish a bicycle.”
Simple and clear. I really like that and will no doubt find many uses.
:-)
It’s not over.
Jeb Bushs Son Hiring Friends And Family As Head Of Texas Land Commission
Less than a year after being elected to lead the oldest state agency in Texas, Land Commissioner George P. Bush has dramatically remade the General Land Office by ousting a majority of its longtime leaders and replacing many of them with people with ties to his campaign and family.
HW didn’t lift a finger for his own re-election.
Dubya didn’t lift a finger to defend his two terms. His only comment since 2009 was to thoroughly trash Cruz, who worked for him.
In typically self-destructive fashion, they are helping Trump close the door on the Bush era.
The Bushies disendorsements are a good thing IMHO..
You and your family were not alone then, and you are not alone now.
Sorry, for sure, about the Texas state issues....but at least on the national level it is over for quite some time (unless Trump somehow loses) .
Trump supported TARP.
