Ted Cruz's Bitter End
New York Times ^ | May 4, 2016

Posted on 05/04/2016 11:40:45 AM PDT by NCjim

If you listened much to Ted Cruz over these last furious months, you heard him talk frequently about “the abyss,” as in what this country was teetering on the edge of. If you listened to him over these last furious hours, you heard him mention the “yawning cavern of insecurity” that motivates Donald Trump and other bullies.

Cruz should take up spelunking. He’s obviously fascinated by unfathomable depths, and with his loss in Indiana on Tuesday, his candidacy for the presidency is finished, giving him a whole lot of extra time. A new hobby is definitely in order.

Glad it’s over. Trump was right, he was a tough competitor. MAGA.

Cruz who? He’s already a distant, painful memory. Nothing memorable, definitely nothing positive to hang onto.

Spelunking. Cave diving.

Maybe Ted Cruz is actually Batman.

Thanks for posting a New York Slimes editorial.
I won’t click the link because I would never willingly give the Slimes a website hit on their counter.
I guess snarky New York values is the new face of trans-conservatism.

Well, at least Cruz has more time on his hands now to go screw Amanda Carpenter at the Washington Hyatt Regency.

I can’t think of a snarkier remark than “trans-conservatism.”

That and asking his dad about the good old days on the Grassy Knoll.

Lol ;-) She knew what was coming and went off the CNN panel an hour before Ted dropped the big one. So, no tears on camera...

Now that he’s got to fire all of his staff, having brought Carly the Layoff Queen on board makes Cruz look like a genius...

Cruz was my favorite going-in, and his organization was good. but he started too sow, and never established his brand. Trump was on my list of satisfactory choices, along with two or three others who “tanked”, early-on. I think Cruz would be a good Supreme Court nominee, both because of his intellect and principles, and also because he is relatively young and healthy, so his conservative voice would be there in the Supreme Court Chambers a long time. Assuming Mrs. Clinton is the opponent, I think Trump would be well advised to select as his running mate a woman from the next generation untainted by any of the unsavoriness of the Clinton woman. There are a few congresswomen who are retired military, and if they “vet” well and project earnestness and vitality on the platform and on various media, I would balance the ticket that way.

Yeah, on the one hand it can use any toilet it wants now, but on the other hand, all it does is crap all over the place.

I suppose it comes close to “neo-con” which has been so overused that it means everything and nothing at the same time now. But in a world where Bruce Jenner can be named Woman of the Year because he is now a part of the “transgender community” the term trans-conservatism seems like a perfect descriptive of the current political environment.

Well, if you can't think of anything, just look at the comments immediately before and after your post (#8) to jog your creativity.

I did click the article. There are plenty of snarky remarks in the article. The author was on a veritable gloat fest. But I suspect each of the GOP candidates has a number of such articles posted against him/her on the NYT website. In the end though the author said what I was thinking throughout as I read it. Cruz will be back.

Maybe next time the voters will be ready for him. I remember that the voters spurned Reagan in 76.

I don’t think Trump should select a woman. The world and especially the Arab world and marxist/athiest enemies of freedom don’t respect women when it comes down to it. If a women is needed merely to combat the left’s cries for diversity and minorities then that’s not a good enough reason. But I understand the proclivity to do so in our mad 24 hour news cycle where perception is everything and a woman VP would be seen as securing a weak link.

Late, but finally Cruz did the right thing and withdrew, so Republicans can unite to elect Republican Donald Trump president, instead of ending up with 8 years of Hillary, continuing Obama’s socialist agenda.
