New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez is my choice as Trump's VP as there are a number of strategic reasons (in order of importance) to choose her. By choosing a woman, Trump would silence a lot of critics and likely attract more women voters. And her being Hispanic could be a huge asset that kills two birds with one stone. Additionally she WAS a Democrat until 1995 - so her subsequent defection to the GOP is an added bonus that can be played up greatly. And lastly, New Mexico voted Democrat in 2000, 2008, 2012, with Bush only winning by 6,000 votes in 2004.

That took all of what, 17 minutes?
Exactly!
All of these people clamoring for a woman VP candidate - how did you treat Sarah Palin?
Sarah! Sarah! Sarah!
I remember the same sort of affirmative action swooning when Colin Powell was to be the cure for all that ailed the party.
NO CARLY
Based on a comment you made in 2006, I would have to assume that you did not support anything to do with McCain:

Why would any conservative support McCain?”
Therefore, I admit I was wrong in assuming you supported his choice of Palin. However, I still maintain as long as a VP candidate is QUALIFIED the deciding factor can often come down to strategic reasons - even within the GOP.
Jan Brewer.
That is correct. I did not support McCain in any way, as I knew then he was a madman likely to start WW3 if given the chance - and, validating my decision, he’s not stopped trying.
Palin was an affirmative action pick and did not do well. The history of affirmative action picks is a history of losers, going back at least as far as Geraldine Ferraro.
Martinez is a RINO GOP-e has-been who has nothing to contribute to a Trump victory, and would try to have Trump assassinated so she could become President.
NO GOP-e people should be permitted to be on the ticket. A politician should not be the VP pick.
Fwiw, Newt just said on Fox that Martinez, Rubio, Walker, and a few others would be excellent choices for Trump’s VP.
Newt says a lot of things and some of them are funnier than others.

Who is on your short list for VP?
desired or expected?
Both. Top 1 or 2?
Herman Cain might be good VP
My best guess is Rand Paul, who would give Trump both the thing he stated he wanted - someone with experience to help navigate the DC political scene - and act as an insurance policy against assassination.
I would be shocked if he was dumb enough to pick any of the establishment candidates - he is unlikely to be unfamiliar with what happened after Reagan made that mistake.
Agree—good thought.
I secretly yearn for a Bernie Sanders pick, however, once he has had the Democratic nomination stolen from him by the Super Delegates. Bernie will be mad as a wet hen by then, he’s been on Capitol Hill for a long time and knows the ropes, and he knows where the dirty Leftist tricks are buried.
OK, I know he’s a socialist, so if I were Trump I’d surround Bernie with committed, loyal, smart people who wouldn’t let him do much. But, talk about an election shakeup! It would be priceless, and it would insure that Hilary was beaten.
LOL
