GOP women push Trump on VP pick
The Hill ^

Posted on 05/03/2016 5:31:08 PM PDT by profit_guy

New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez is my choice as Trump's VP as there are a number of strategic reasons (in order of importance) to choose her. By choosing a woman, Trump would silence a lot of critics and likely attract more women voters. And her being Hispanic could be a huge asset that kills two birds with one stone. Additionally she WAS a Democrat until 1995 - so her subsequent defection to the GOP is an added bonus that can be played up greatly. And lastly, New Mexico voted Democrat in 2000, 2008, 2012, with Bush only winning by 6,000 votes in 2004.

“His VP will be Christopher Walken.”

Which Christopher Walken? Colonel Angus? The Continental?

Jan Brewer seems like a better choice than Martinez.

Martinez was given the chance to showcase herself at the 2012 Convention. Her speech and appearance were very forgettable.

Nobody can out Trump Trump. But the VP should still have some charisma... some ability to get attention. The media don’t want to cover paint drying.

I'm praying for a Newt.

I would be happy with Huck.

Newt would be optimal for a President Trump, but maybe not so great for candidate Trump :(

No matter who it is, though, the ticket will have to fight not just the Democrat but the media. So I hope he chooses very carefully.

He’s taking Kacich. It’s a done deal.

Kacich delivers Ohio to Trump and his likability ratings were higher than either Trump or Hillary.

Trump can focus on PA, WV, Michigan and Wisconsin.

Would love to see Newt as VP or Chief of Staff. No to Rubio (I don’t like him and I don’t see him bringing anything to the ticket - Trump should win Florida without him.) I’m open to other people too - Allen West would be great.

“Any Republican who is pushing for any form of affirmative action needs to be pushed out of the party.”

Take a hike! Of course qualifications matter, but there are strategic reasons to choose a VP as well. It’s been done numerous times over the years - even by the GOP. Let me guess, you probably supported Sarah Palin as McCain’s strategic pick - just as Trump may choose Kasich for strategic reasons as well.

I’ll take the former New Mexico Governor, Gary Johnson.

If you got a problem with my statement, it’s you who should take a hike - identity politics are the domain of the hard left. And your assumptions are erroneous so stick ‘em where the sun don’t shine.

Newt would definitely be a key part of a Trump administration - such as Chief of Staff. So would Chris Christie as AG?

Gary Johnson, the Marijuana Magnate? That ain’t happening.

I suggest Trump find someone who can deliver important Electoral Votes, and then stay out of trouble for 4 years.

Your lack of response regarding Palin tells me you supported McCain’s choice of her!, lol. Did you think that I forgot that I asked you?? That was identity politics btw. Hypocrite.

Didn’t I tell you that your assumption was erroneous? I’m pretty sure I did.

So you have a literacy problem in addition to a falsely-accusing-others-on-zero-evidence problem.

Your apology is expected.

Kasich would be a complete disaster. A deal breaker. Trump needs a true conservative on the ticket to counter his liberal tendencies. Maybe Sessions from Alabama?

That’s not how it works.

The way it works is YOU made the assertion so YOU have to back it up or walk it back.

The practice of libel is not as easy as you would have it.

Back it up or apologize or get the hell out. Pick one.

If playing the PC game, are there any wheel chair bound, African American (or Latino or both), transsexual, single mothers out there with policy chops?
