Trump: 'I'd have to think about' Cruz for Supreme Court

Donald Trump had a tepid response when asked if he would consider GOP presidential rival Ted Cruz for the Supreme Court, should the businessman win the White House.

"I don't know, I'd have to think about it," Trump told the Daily Mail in an interview Monday.

"There's a whole question of uniting and there's a whole question as to temperament," Trump continued. "He's certainly a smart guy, but there's also a temperament issue.

"He's got a tough temperament for what we're talking about," Trump said. "You have to be a very, very smart, rational person, in my opinion, to be a justice of any kind."

Trump told The Washington Post that he plans to announce upward of a dozen judges from which he'd pick to fill Supreme Court vacancies.

Cruz, a former Texas solicitor general, has been mentioned by Republicans as a potential replacement to fill the vacant seat previously held by the late Justice Antonin Scalia.

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Monday described such a scenario as scary.

For his part, Cruz insisted in March that he was more focused on nominating justices to the court than becoming one.

Trump made his comments to the Mail as he and Cruz battle in Indiana heading into Tuesday's primary in the Hoosier State, a key opportunity to pick up more of the delegates needed to secure the nomination.

Agreed, after watching Cruz lay into Trump before the Indiana primary I believe he is unstable, and a liar.

Ditto your “NO”.

With his hot mess of personality disorders, plus his ability to be easily manipulated and/or bribed, he would be a very bad, bad, bad choice for SCOTUS. We do not need another Roberts on SCOTUS.

Napolitano or Pirro.

Good for you.

Go down the path of socialism with Hillary.

cRuz was a wolf in conservative’s clothing, nothing more.

Trump is the ONLY one fighting for American jobs, workers and willing to fight the globalists...a club which cRuz is a part of.

Take care. I understand there are a few sites the bumhurt FR cRuzer’s have started. I’m sure you can take comfort, there.

Us? We’ll be standing with Trump...for America, the Constitution and to fight and defend both from Hildebeast.

Well there again...with your attitude and others as yourself I cannot see there will be a healing of the tide that swept over FR...this time around it appears there is no hope for unity....and Trump will assuredly loose if there isn’t.

You were the one with the non-healing attitude.

Go back and re-read your post(s).

Good luck and take care, caww.

I sincerely wish you the best.

What I was doing is explaining that you have to give people time....that doesn’t seem to be what many here want to do....therefore there can be no healing....and if not then Trump will with certainty loose to Hillary.

IMO, Cruz isn’t the type to take or want a long time position such as a SCOTUS seat.
If you look at his work history he can’t stay in one position very long. I know people
on the move do switch jobs often but Cruz just seems to me as being someone that
after four years or so he’s bored, thus moving on.
