Cruz's faltering campaign shows the risks of depending on a few wealthy donors
LA Times ^ | 5/2/2016 | Joseph Tanfani and Noah Bierman

Ted Cruz, in his outsider’s bid for the White House, has depended heavily on the largesse of just three wealthy donors to establish credibility and stay afloat amid a chaotic nominating process that killed off most of his rivals.

Now, at perhaps the most desperate moment in his quest to win the Republican nomination, Cruz is learning the perils of relying on strong-willed magnates who carry their own agendas and have demanded an unprecedented level of control in how their money is spent. ...

Sadly enough, Cruz is just another politician backed by big money and beholden to those big-bucks donors. But then again, aren't they all?

Excepting Trump of course who is backed pretty much only by his OWN money and who has no PACs that to do the candidate's dirty work and which the candidate can hide behind when called out about it.

I do not doubt that one bit. If fact I think this has been going on for some time. I also bet a lot of the money dries up for Cruz if he loses big in Indiana.

The family man with morals takes money off a homosexual TX business man too.
Took money from Trump and then attacks Trump for paying off the likes of him.

cruz started with so much support from us here and now the man has shown his true colors.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but I really just don’t like like being preached by a politician who has skeletons like everyone else. He’s so certain that everyone who doesn’t agree with him is wrong, just like our current president.

It could be that being a Senator has twisted his outlook. Many of his so called wins are not from popular vote, but from working the system. That’s what being a Senator will do to a person.

I don’t like Senators!

We need a constitutional amendment that only billionaires can run for president. That's the ticket! /s

D.C. insiders prepaid for Cruz and he will remain in the race as long as a glimmer of hope remains for a contested collusion convention.

” don’t like Senators!”

I don’t like even more, these three big-money jerks who think they can buy the presidency for an a$$hole like sCruze. Then there’s the issue of one of them being a “pastor” of a fruitcake “church.” The Assembly of Yahweh, yeah right. Sounds like a real mainstream religion to mem not!

“We need a constitutional amendment that only billionaires can run for president.”

Actually, I think we need a constitutional amendment to prevent anyone from self-financing because it gives them such an unfair advantage over the great bulk of politicians who are bought and paid for by rich oligarchs and plutocrats.

Lack of money is not the problem. The problem is shallow short term thinking. Like saying "I won five elections in a row" and actually naming North Dakota as one of them. That is a flat out lie - ND never had an election of any kind. Doing stuff like that over and over is not critical strategic thinking. Bill says it best;

Trump is a deductive thinker - he begins with the goal and works back from there - no wasted motion - only what contributes to the result.
— Bill Mitchell (REAL) (@mitchellvii) March 21, 2016

Guys like Cruz are inductive thinkers. They are so obsessed with the ideological front end, the actual result is an afterthought.

I've only met one. He was some CommiecRAT Senator from MN. Thought he was a big shot until he was denied access to the SCIF there.

Most freepers put in words what I thought better than I ever could , your post is but one example . I agree with every word of your post.I saw Cruz for the fraud he is since Cruz’s support of TPA long ago. And the rest of your post i agree with too . and that Trump is the real deal etc. . Trump is the real deal and not beholden to any donor.
