My involvement with Free Republic began around 2000 when my wife began her vigil around the Texas governor’s mansion in support of GW against the challenge of Al Gore for the presidency. I generally provided the livelihood for the Bat Lady to be able to protest and surround the mansion against the leftists who were kept at bay across the street. I tolerate opposition but at this point it's moot and only helps Hillary. Cruz cannot beat Hillary, and perhaps Trump will not, but Trump is the much, much better bet.

I would have gladly supported Cruz in 2020 or 2024 but he's wrecked that.

Er, I see numbers of pro-Cruz posts on the FR everyday. The zotted freepers seem to be the ones who did serial postings of the same articles or were just constantly gratuitously insulting, as I see it. Also your “Opus” is pretty much an arrogant slam against what you apparently think are all mindless zealots and morons because they support Trump. Sorry but I’ve been through to much in life to be preached at by anyone.

I support Trump, with reservations. Cruz now appears to be another narcissist on the lines of Obama. Not that such people are anything unique amongst politicians. Still, Trump has actually built real things that can be seen. Unlike Ted who is another lifelong parasite.

See? I can oppose Cruz without slamming everyone who supports him. It is possible. It’s all just opinions after all and we all know what Clint Eastwood says about that.

FR should be able to tolerate support for more than one candidate

Here's the problem - the only chance for Cruz now is for there to be a contested convention - and if that happends, it is far more likely that a White RINO, er, Knight from the GOPe will get the nomination, not Cruz. IMO all Cruzer can be is a spoiler for the anti-GOPe vote that has finally dominated a GOP primary. It would be one thing if the Cruz supporters just stuck to making the case for their candidate - but way too many of them spend more time flinging mud at the presumptive nominee, Trump.

Many better posters than him have been banned for continuing to support Cruz even after he has been eliminated. His efforts to help the GOPe deny the nomination to Trump are 100 percent guaranteed to result in President Hillary, if successful. People who support his efforts support Hillary. This site is opposed to that cankles infested witch ever having control of the levers of government again. You and your husband are not, because you want to pursue a dream of your messiah being president. The rest of us want to avoid being insulted and harassed nonstop by people working for Hillary.

How hard is it to understand that Cruz has lost. If he had 1000 and Trump had 500, we would have come together for Cruz long ago, and rightly so. Let it go, and stay here and help. Or don't.

I repeat: I have stated often that this forum, and perhaps other conservative forums, have no doubt been infiltrated by Liberal trolls trying to instigate a lot of in-fighting. Trolls is as trolls does. And trolls do what trolls do best. I would go so far to suspect that some trolls have been here since this sites inception.

Have you ever considered that notion? (Rhetorical)

I have also stated, as "conservative" people claim they are, many seemingly fail to realize that they are still human beings with two sides of a brain, and are bound to have liberal tendencies as much as the next person. They get caught up with the emotion of things, and thus get trapped into doing emotionally liberal things; like using (perhaps unsubstantiated) past deeds to give credence to present (and liberally emotional) commentary. The only difference: Liberals know to use these "things"/tactics to Conservative disadvantage; and Conservatives know how to use these same tactics to Conservative disadvantage.

Personally, I think Trump is more conservative than many "Conservatives" here realize. And given Trump's popularity, why not use that popularity to Conservative advantage and advance conservatism?

I ask this rhetorically. It's food for thought.
