Even as Donald J. Trump trounced him from New Hampshire to Florida to Arizona, Senator Ted Cruz could reassure himself with one crucial advantage: He was beating Mr. Trump in the obscure, internecine delegate fights that could end up deciding the Republican nomination for president.
This is how elections are won in America, Mr. Cruz gloated after walking away with the most delegates in Wyoming.
But it turns out that delegates like ordinary voters are susceptible to shifts in public opinion. And as the gravitational pull of Mr. Trumps recent primary landslides draws more Republicans toward him, Mr. Cruzs support among the partys 2,472 convention delegates is softening, threatening his hopes of preventing Mr. Trumps nomination by overtaking him in a floor fight.

He also acts like he doesn’t know what natural born citizen means. I think he does and wants to exploit the same loophole Obama did in that there is “no controlling legal authority”.
Who knew that no one checked?
Once again the rubes have been hornswoggled into supporting the establishment’s choice.
but Trump derangement syndrome is just to a whole other level
I never understood the complete insanity the vitriol attacks on Trump especially by people that were supposedly on our side.... total craziness.... I get that Trump can be seen as a moderate conservative or even a moderate...but to the Trump hater they actually do seem to believe he is really is Hitler and seem to be willing the do anything to stop.him no matter what the cost
it's almost like reverse Obama ism where is Obama Believers take the blanks slate to protect all their hopes and dream
Trump haters project all their irrational fears and Trumps becomes whatever they fear and hate the most that's why the right Trump hater see him as left and the left Trump hater see.him is right
but the truth is what they fear is Trump is an American nationalist and a threat to internationalism and globalist thinking in the US... many on the right have been co-opted by globalism without realizing it

“Anyone want to predict Cruzs future after this?”
He will either endorse Hillary, or Gary Johnson (Libertarian) or other third party candidate.
And its going be a battle to see who can earn the support of a majority of the delegates elected by the people. — Ted Cruz.
So if those delegates weren't elected by the people, they'll be tossed aside, right Senator Cruz? Unless, you, umm, ‘misspoke’ again.
Love that song.
Great post. Make it a vanity. It stands on its own and is deserving of attention from all of us.
Al Gore comes to mind
He will.
Yea, everyone is stupid but you.
But the never in the Never Trump movement is beginning to look more like a reluctantly. Im not in the anybody-but-Trump campaign, said Jim Poolman, a delegate from North Dakota. Im in the anybody-but-Hillary campaign. |
Benny Hinn, Oral Roberts, Jim and Tammy Fae Bakker, Jimmy Swaggart, Joel Osteen, and Creflo Dollar come to mind too. Who couldn’t see Ted as a televangelist raking it in? Why not make it a daily double with Daddy Cruz as his sidekick.
Time for Trump to strike and gather up those delegates who are now weak on Lyin Ted.
That’s good news for Ted because AL Gore made a billion defrauding his followers using the politics of climate change.
Trump should dangle a SC nomination in front of him. If he doesn’t take that, he’s toast.
Yeah but after the election what will be Cruz's scam?
Yes, it is true that most delegates become unbound after the first vote and can vote for whomever they choose once they fulfill their first ballot obligation (to support the actual winner).
However, that cuts both ways. They can just as easily switch their second ballot commitment AWAY from Cruz and back to Trump if they conclude that Trump is the rightful nominee. And if Trump was to roll into the convention with 1200 delegates and Cruz is only around 600, than that's not a very difficult decision to make.
Back when Cruz started doing all this "delegate wrangling", it seemed possible that we would have a convention similar to 1976 when both Ford and Reagan entered with over 1,000 delegates each. However, Trump's massive victories in the past six contests have pretty much settled the matter - Trump is going to go into the convention HUNDREDS OF DELEGATES ahead of Cruz.
So all those wined and dined delegates that pledged to Ted that they would go for him on a second ballot have to be having second thoughts now that it is clear that Ted is going to be at least 600+ delegates AWAY from the majority he would need to get nominated.
Tide is already starting to turn. Check out what happened in Massachusetts yesterday when the Cruz people tried their delegate wrangling parlor tricks.
Cruz is not qualified for the Supreme Court. Period.
Ted will join Al Gore on the lecture circuit and they’ll both talk about how they each were *really* the winners of the election.
