For decades, American political math has revolved around the Northeast – once a bastion of moderate Republicanism – being monolithically Democratic. Donald Trump's nationalist platform is forcing a political realignment the likes of which hasn't been seen since the 1980's.
For all their chest-pounding and back-patting about living in “the capital of the world,” New Yorkers themselves are pretty irrelevant on the national political scene. The Empire State hasn’t produced a major politician since Franklin Roosevelt; no, carpetbaggers like Hillary Clinton and Bobby Kennedy don’t count. Air conditioning and high taxation has sent middle-class New Yorkers fleeing to warmer, cheaper states, with New York now eclipsed by California, Texas and Florida in both population and electoral clout. The state’s heavy Democratic lean also means it usually gets ignored in presidential elections.
Donald Trump isn’t just the most important New York political figure in nearly a hundred years, he’s also the only figure who can put the Empire State on the map for the Republicans. As the first overtly nationalist major-party candidate since Ronald Reagan, Trump has brought about a major realignment in American politics that will persist even if he himself fails to secure the White House.

This is an excellent article about why Trump has been winning despite being attacked by everyone including George Will, The National Review, the GOPe, the media, Senator Cruz, the Democrat politicians, the neocons, Democrat street thugs, La Raza, Black Lives Matter and the Soros machine.
Trump, and only Trump, sincerely speaks for the patriotism and love of America that is still strong in most of its citizens.
I glanced at the pics/bios of the editorial staff (who we are)- some look a bit strange. Interesting article, and website.
Trump is the first candidate for president in my 70 year lifetime, who looks and feels like a winner...unlike any other I've seen. Reagan was good at inspiring people because of his positive message about that "shining city on the hill", but he did it in a quieter, more deliberate way. Trump, on the other hand, is all out there. While not comparing their ideologies, Trump rivals Reagan in his positive, winning message but with more bravado and overt confidence.
And who doesn't like a winner? Apparently not the GOP elite, who along with their fellow anti-Trump water carriers, have done everything in their power to back-stab their own front-runner. Proof positive to me, that I have picked the right candidate to not only win this thing in November, but to make a real difference when he gets to the Oval Office.
I hope the GOP establishment types are literally crapping in their britches over this knock-up-the-side-of-the-head by the Republican electorate. They've had it coming for a long time.

I love this statement, comment, however you take it...
Trump is a true, born, bred, schooled American, built his business the American Way: Hard work, and doing it right...
He has raised a beautiful family, and he is loved by the American people...
Has he always been right, no...has he always been a ‘good boy’ no...but isn’t that why we love him the most, he’s like one of us...we have all done stupid things in our lives and yet we keep going on, and that’s what I see in Trump...
Look at what he did yesterday...how many other candidates would have just said ‘sorry, I can’t make it’ but not Trump, he was an hour late, but he showed up, dusty, wind blown, but he was there to give his attention to the people that came to see him...
That is what I call ‘Presidential’...he might not always speak with ‘the finest qualities’ but neither did a few past presidents in our history...
I look at him and see A Teddy Roosevelt, A Harry Truman, Patton, and A George Washington, all rolled into one...

Rfk was a carpetbagger. He moved to ny state specifically to run for senate.
This speaks to New York’s latent provincialism. They act as if they are more sophisticated than other Americans but they readily fall for the latest celebrity culture phenom.
Question: If Trump painted New York red, why did Hillary and Bernie each get more votes in their primary than Trump did in the Republican primary. And both dems got more votes than all of the Republican candidates did?

Answer: Because NY is a closed primary with very strict rules to qualify to vote. Only Registered Republicans were allowed to vote in the Republican primary. There are far more Democrats in NY than Republicans. Trump will win the independents and Democrats in the general election.

Trump is the most important NY political figure in a century? (1) It’s pretty silly to argue that he’s been remotely as influential as FDR. (2) Call me when he actually wins a general election in New York. I have my doubts.

Trump may be able to do what some figures in the establishment have wanted to do but have been unable - finally marginalize and push the conservatives out of the party and into political obscurity like they were prior to the Goldwater / Reagan days. Trump will return it things to a more “Rockefeller Republican” ideology - but further to the left to encompass such ultra liberal things as taking away private property rights, doing away with the cultural moors (such as his support of Charlotte’s bathroom policy and opposing the state’s efforts to combat it), putting pro-life issues on the back burner and ultimately off the burner altogether, ushering in one huge big government program after another (after all, it is the Federal government’s job to “take care of everybody” and “you conservatives” will “have to get used to it! Get used to it, conservatives!”), etc. It’s quite a sign as to the declining moral state of the nation that this kind of message is now appealing even among significant numbers of the GOP electorate.
Yes, they do. When Trump blasts conservatives and says it is the Federal government's job to take care of everyone, his crowds cheer. When Trump blasts Scott Walker for not raising taxes and not increasing spending, his crowds cheer. And they cheer for every ultra liberal, big government proposal he belts out - loudly, and enthusiastically.
