“Question: If Trump painted New York red, why did Hillary and Bernie each get more votes in their primary than Trump did in the Republican primary. And both dems got more votes than all of the Republican candidates did?

New York—
Trump: 524,932
Kasich: 217,904
Cruz: 126,151

Clinton: 1,054,083
Sanders: 763,469”

Answer: Because NY is a closed primary with very strict rules to qualify to vote. Only Registered Republicans were allowed to vote in the Republican primary. There are far more Democrats in NY than Republicans. Trump will win the independents and Democrats in the general election.

A good answer.

I prefer closed primaries and did not know that NY’s was open or closed.

Is there any polling reported yet for the general election in New York?
