Twenty-four people missing after deadly garbage dump accident in Guatemala

At least 24 people are still missing after a collapse at Guatemala City's largest garbage dump this week that killed four people, the city said on Friday. People sifting through the dump, which receives about 500 truckloads of trash every day, were caught unawares on Wednesday when part of the massive heap of garbage caved in, according to authorities in Guatemala City. Four people were killed and 15 were rescued from the mountains of waste with injuries. City spokesman Carlos Sandoval said the 24 missing included seven recycling workers. Others had apparently entered the dump illegally, he said. The search for the missing continued on Friday.

The folks killed/missing are just your average dirt poor folks who have nothing thanks to governmental policy.

I’ve seen it Panama, it’s much the same throughout Latin America.

Some compassion is appropriate in this case.

And I thought I had it bad. Three days I. A small town outside Yuma trying to get one vehicle fixed. Double dually blow out on the other. Finally gas up and trying to head out of town but low and behold the gas at the supermarket has now ruined my engine. Smells like turpentine, octane knocks like crazy until it died. Sitting on the side of a desert road waiting for a tow truck...well at least I wasn’t buried under mega tons of garbage...

Look at our own corrupt leaders starting with Hillary Clinton.

Now take a country with limited natural resources and one party banana republic governance occupied by thousands of Hillary Clintons, wash, rinse and repeat for two centuries and it is little wonder that a large percentage of the populace is making a living picking through the garbage heaps.
