Last night, anti-Trump protesters rioted in Costa Mesa, California. Yes, rioted. Thats what you call it when demonstrations turn into this:

Or this:

Just imagine for a moment the shrieking outrage if Trump supporters had tried to flip a car outside a Hillary Clinton rally. Imagine the fury at the sight of a bloody man wearing a Hillary shirt. So how did the mainstream media cover the anti-Trump riot? Hot Airs Larry OConnor has the details:
Check out the LA Times headline: Protests rage outside Trump rally in Orange County; 17 arrested, police car smashed. Maybe its me, but if your headline includes the phrase: police car smashed, perhaps you should go ahead and call it a riot and not the benign and righteous sounding protest. The Times write-up of the ugly violence begins with more apologetic language: Hundreds of demonstrators filled the street outside the Orange County amphitheater where Donald Trump held a rally Thursday night Demonstrators??? This is a very deliberate use of language. When you have a righteous cause, youre a demonstrator. The Times is using language equating these thugs with someone marching in Selma. Demonstrators sounds heroic. The Washington Post used the morally-neutral term clashed.
Trump protesters clashed with police officers here after a campaign rally Thursday hosted by the Republican presidential candidate. Its just a clash, folks. Who knows how it started? Then there was this tweet from an L.A. Times reporter:
[tweet "It appears the #DonaldTrump storm has passed #CostaMesa"]
Im sorry, but an anti-Trump riot is not a Donald Trump storm.
Lets state this as plainly as possible: Nothing Trump has done justifies a violent response. Nothing. Yet the more the media whitewashes this violence and applies its typical double standard to left-wing thugs, the more the violence will escalate.
Clearly the media sympathizes with these Mexican flag-waving crowds in much the same way that it sympathized with the rioters at Ferguson and Baltimore. But when you excuse political violence, you tend to get more of it. We know leftist radicals arent shy about taking so-called direct action to intimidate opponents. We also know that at least some Trump supporters are spoiling for a fight. Trump himself has been spoiling for a fight. We risk the worst political violence in a generation. Am I wrong to believe that some in the media are thrilled at the prospect so long as the Left is leading the charge?
I’m not a Trump guy by any means, but I’ve noticed how the media are paving the way for a very bloody summer by - for all intents and purposes - excusing the anti-Trump violence and thuggery by blaming it all on Trump, either implicitly or explicitly.
French is the best writer at NR these days.
Now now.
Cruz (and his remaining supporters) insist that violence is caused by Trump.
Never mind the decades long violence of the communist flag carrying contingent.
Never mind over a thousand years of continuous Muslim violence.
#Blacklivesmatter riots in Missouri and Maryland? No, it’s caused by the atmosphere of Trump.
Imam Ted and the Tedomite Cruzlims couldn’t be wrong on the cause, could they? I mean Ted is the fulfillment of prophecy.. His dad and Saint Stabby have told us so.
Both Hillary and sanders use the words “fight” and “fighting” in their signs and in their rhetoric. It occurred to me that this is not just a metaphor, but that they are actually signaling their supporters to engage in physical violence. They know who the media will blame.
“There is blood on the hands of the mainstream media.”
That SHOULD be a good topic of discussion for early Monday morning...IN the workplace.
I think that the NRO twits do more time moderating the comments than actually writing articles. I have had so many posts deleted from that site that I only post if I am ok with it being deleted after five seconds. Say something pro-Trump and it goes into the same vault with Stalin’s secrets.
Say all you want about Disqus, they do let you see when moderators remove your posts and you get a feel for the places are not honestly moderating.
The scary thing is in private or semi-private I suspect that the Dems and msm are hooting and hollering with glee, over the fact this man was injured, because they see him as the problem, when in reality they and their violent ilk are the problem. I would guest that to them this is what their dear leader meant by get in their face ... which I interpreted to me intimidate them until you get the dear leader and main stream dem’s way.
Just open a season and give us a bag limit. Sounds like fun.
It’s never been clear to me who does the deleting at NR. Many of my deleted comments have been utterly innocuous - no personal attacks, no advocacy of violence, no racism, no obscenity, but they get deleted. Moreover, it is not just specific comments that are deleted - ALL of my comments are now deleted. I’ve gotten the impression that other readers can get you permanently banned simply by typing “@troll” in response to your comments.
Disgusting.
French is correct. The drive in the MSM to drum up violence by convention time is frighteningly pervasive. “If it bleeds, it leads.”
Agreed.
Well, I guess I will start two innocuous sleeper accounts and age them a bit before I start retuning the favor.
There will be more too.
I wish they would stop saying “Anti-Trump Protestors” and just call them “Democrat Rioters” which is what they are.
Political street violence by brownshirts. Nothing else describes it.
