This Is the Donald Trump That Could Win 40 States
Brietbart ^ | 27 Apr 2016 | Virgil

Donald Trump is two for two with teleprompter-ed speeches. That is, he is batting 1000 with remarks that are carefully prepared and delivered. So for his sake, he should keep it up. And if he does, he can win the Republican nomination in July and the general election in November—by carrying 40 states.

Trump’s speech today to the Center for the National Interest (CFTNI), an old-line “realist” think tank in DC, was well received. CFTNI was once known as the Nixon Center, as in, the 37th president, and it still includes on its board such legendary Nixon foreign-policy hands as Henry Kissinger.

Not surprisingly, Trump’s hard-nosed policy ideas were a tonic to grizzled Nixonian realpolitikers. Yet at the same time, his ideas were cheering to a younger generation, weary of the endless wars-for-democracy of the Bush 43 administration, as well as the foolishly sovereignty-smiting policies of the Clinton and Obama administrations.

Indeed, in choosing to speak before CFTNI, as opposed to, say, AEI or Heritage, Trump was sending a clear signal to the neocons who dominated the Bush 43 administration: Your days of costly nation-building are done. (And yet interestingly, Trump was introduced by Zalmay Khalilzad, Bush 43’s ambassador to the United Nations.)

So when Trump puts his mind to it, he can be not only entertaining but also effective. His CFTNI speech, on top of his March 21 speech to the America Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), proves that Trump can operate smoothly at the presidential level.

In his 38-minute address, Trump got right down to it: “It’s time to shake the rust off America’s foreign policy. It’s time to invite new voices and new visions into the fold, something we have to do.”

Yes, we’ve had quite enough of “experts” who get their “genius” thoughts published in The New York Times or The Wall Street Journal, thereby shaping the failed foreign policies of the last three presidents..................He pulls no punches!!!

I just got home and read the transcript of Trump’s speech. It is a masterpiece of sanity. God love him — I hope he keeps this up.

What a concept... a President who actually thinks America should come first!

It sure didn’t look like he was using a teleprompter. He seemed to know what he was saying and never waivered from his message. Excellent speech that should alleviate fears some have with regards to Trump.

It was very good. And, of course, once he gets to a certain point, most of his speeches will have to be this. But I prefer the shoot-from-the-hip Donald.

you have no idea just how SICK we are of having TOTUS read to us

just give your speeches like a real human being please (bring a few notes if you need them, no harm that)

thank you

Anyone who doesn’t think that speech was presidential is totally brain-dead.
Don’t change your style, Donald, but from time to time throw in a little prepared job, just to keep the howlers off balance.
A GREAT SPEECH in all respects, tone, content, and delivery.

An uncanny resemblance to another political operative.. Who gave dreamy speeches, but couldn't do um, shit, if he didn't, um, have his TOTUS!

Uncanny resemblance, really? In what universe did Trump’s speech sound like anything Obama would say! Try listening to Trump’s speech again when your head has cleared from whatever it is that you have been ingesting/smoking!

Yeah the same with his AIPAC speech. I am almost positive that he goes through the speech several times prior to actually giving it, using the teleprompter as a reference. This gives the appearance of not using it. I’m sure he also actually takes part in the speech writing as well.

“...uncanny resemblance ...”

Seriously? Trump has proven over and over again that he can speak successfully and for an hour + without a teleprompter at his rallies. The attempt at a comparison to “another political operative” who always uses a teleprompter 100% of the time for everything does not work. Referring to a teleprompter in the modern age during a formal speech is no different than using a podium for notes in the old days.

40 states? Never. Hillary starts off with 22 states @ 259 EV's in the bag. I think only three states are truly "swing states" (MI, OH, FL). Hillary just needs one to win. Trump must get all three.

Correction. Hillary has 269 in the bag. My prior map mistakenly gave the Al Franken state of MN to Trump. Hillary will win it easily. Last Republican to carry was Nixon in his'72 landslide.

That probably means that Trump will choose Kasich.

Don’t be surprised if he does pick Kasich. He’s very popular in OH and would do much to help carry it

Masterpiece of Sanity. Like your description. I saw him deliver it. Good job, though you can tell he dislikes teleprompters...

Pessimist. Wrong on several Hillary states. Cruz is done. Think positive. 40 states possible.

And what have those last three presidents had in common?

Harvard and Yale.

These two schools should be burned to the ground.
