Prince died without a will, according to court documents filed by his sister on Tuesday, potentially causing big complications for that stars sprawling financial estate and musical legacy.
In probate documents filed with the Carver County District Court in Minnesota, Tyka Nelson, 55, Princes sister, said that her brother died without a spouse, children or surviving parents, and that I do not know of the existence of a will.
Ms. Nelsons petition also listed five half-siblings as heirs, and asked the court to appoint a special administrator for the estate because no personal representative has been appointed in Minnesota or elsewhere. Minnesota law treats surviving half-siblings the same as full siblings, raising the possibility of a drawn-out family battle.

let’s go crazy let’s get nuts
Not a huge mess. You’re either related or you aren’t. No spouse, then it all goes to kids and grandkids.
Sounds simple enough to me.
Just divide it up equally. If necessary liquidate everything first.
No children, then siblings are next.
The State of Min-ee-SOH-tah will get most of it.
Doubtful there are any pills left.
What a dummy. But then, many celebs are.
He has no spouse. His only child died in infancy. His has a sister and five half siblings. His estate is likely to be extremely complicated because there is a lot of stuff that does not have an easily established value.
My wife’s parents died without a will. It’s led to her siblings fighting over who owns their home (it’s in another country and we’re staying out of it). It’s split the family in two. The moral is- you’re gonna die someday. Have a will.
+1
Have a will, and life insurance, and specify what should happen to all the STUFF. Jimmy gets the credenza, Esther gets the statue of the poodle, etc. People fight over the stupidest stuff at stressful times.
kids grand kids nieces nephews......blood
Yeah, when my parents died they left everything 50-50 to my brother and me. Luckily we get along really well so there was no problem splitting their things. Our lawyer told us some horror stories, though.
Exactly, I read that it’s not going to be much of an issue-
Another lawyer just got his halo.
Sibs as well.
This is the sister’s view.
Many times the lawyer for the deceased or the business agent has a copy of a will unknown to the siblings.
This may be more about positioning legally than anything else.
I don’t find this funny...and I hope his family can resolve this peacefully and gracefully without the usual bickering, and just accept that he meant to leave 90% of his fortune to some guy that posts on FreeRepublic as AndytTheBear....
