Just heard on Fox....breaking. No further details yet as to what announcement is.
(Excerpt) Read more at foxnews.com ...
An hour is a terrible thing to waste.
I thought they weren't allowed to announce a running mate until after they received the nomination.
Am I misinformed?
Politico reporting Cruz deflects question about running mate announcement
my first thought
“I expect that the Democrats will hit Donald Trump really, really, really hard for his past support of Democrats. It will absolutely destroy Trump in the General Election.”
You’re right. I expect we should get behind the guy who brought up the rear a distant terd.
He has to win a ***majority of the delegates*** in 8 states.
He has delegate majorities in Texas, Kansas, Maine, Idaho, Utah, Wisconsin. That’s 6. He’s not there yet.
True enough. But it's also true for Mitt Romney and Jeb, and for you and me. Any of us could win on the second ballot. So I wouldn't call that a pathway.
He is going to explain how coming in third in four states is really winning; evangelistically speaking of course.
Current rules say it is required for you to win 8 states to be on any ballot for the Republican nomination. Could change though but I don’t think they will upset the cart.
What will be the impact of this announcement, whatever it is?
Will Cruz get a bump, or will he take a dump?
Just giving people an opportunity to think before they respond.
Lol. ALWAYS enjoy your posts, KL.
Perhaps if he would stop acting like a laughable figure the mocking would cease.
Your not winning Ted, no matter how you try to tell us otherwise. He is mocking us.
“Or that Kasich is endorsing Cruz and dropping out of the race.”

I doubt that. Under Ohio’s election laws, wouldn’t Trump, as the Ohio second place primary finisher, automatically receive Kasich’s 66 Ohio delegates if he, Kasich, were to drop out of the race?
Cinnamontea, that’s not “nastiness”, it’s called “passion” now...at least by a certain apparent majority here on FR.
Well Teddy has do something because Donald is giving a major presidential style policy speech at noon. If Ted doesn’t do something he won’t even garner a mention on TV tonight.
A luzer announcing another luzer for VP sounds like a luzing proposition to me. :-)
It will be an expose.
“Here we have a rock-rib conservative, a guy the GOPe loves to hate and trash ... “ etc.
That fallacy may have flown here a year ago, my Pollyanna-ish FRiend, but Cruz is aping Trump on issues like immigration, trade and others—and the GOP-e has been holding Ted’s coat.
And the voters don’t like him. The GOP-e notwithstanding, some of us here are less interested in `Ted Cruz’s Magical Mystery Ego Tour’ than in winning back the WH this fall.
Ah, but there’s a loophole in Rule 40. Rule 40 doesn’t say a candidate for nomination must win 8 states. It says a candidate must have the support of 8 states.
So let’s suppose it’s the second ballot. Delegates can now switch, and support whomever they please. If 8 or more states decide to go with, say, Romney, then Romney is eligible for the nomination.
It least, that’s my read.
