Since he announced his run for the White House, billionaire businessman Donald Trump has made the southern border one of his key issues. He's made no apologies for his remarks about drug dealers and rapists making their way to America via the porous border. His promise to build a wall has also been wildly popular among his supporters.
Like many involved American politics, Mexico has finally come to terms with the idea that Trump and his ideas are not going away just yet. Those concepts have taken their toll on Mexico and its image, and it has decided it's time to something about it.
To help restore their marred reputation, the Mexican government announced it was sending diplomat Carlos Sada to Washington in an effort revamp the country's tarnished image, according to Reuters. Sada admitted that Mexico has neglected its image and planned to address the problems through lobbying efforts and with PR and media campaigns.
"We need to do a more thorough job so that people understand what (Mexico) contributes," Sada said Tuesday after being sworn in at Mexicos legislature.
Gabriela Cuevas, an opposition lawmaker, said it was vital for Mexico to improve its image but that wasn't enough to change the "hateful trend that Trump and other xenophobes before him have stirred up."
"They don't understand the extent of the damage Trump has done," she said.
There's no doubt that Mexico would like to blame Trump for its damaged reputation, but at the end of the day, it has been forced to admit that much of what Trump has said was right an undoubtedly humiliating admission.
Andres Rozental, a former Mexican deputy foreign minister, admitted Mexico was at least partly responsible for how the country is perceived.
"To change the image, you have to change the reality," he said. "Unfortunately, Mexico's internal reality at this point in time has a lot of negatives."
So negative, in fact, that leaders saw the need to bring in a diplomat to help reverse the damage already done another crushing concession that Trump was right.

Sending a PR flak to lie to Americans about how wonderful Mexico’s illegals are for us!
We know better.
I remember when that ad came out, few then wanted to believe the open border and illegals could possibly be a problem. Those of us that lived on the border and tried to explain the issues were called racist by conservatives!
Now we are well on our way to electing someone that sees the problem and is going to do something about it!
Mexico can control their Southern border. They choose not too if those crossing are headed to the U.S. They will not tolerate illegals in their country, but assist illegals not only from Mexico but Central America to invade ours. It really needs to stop.
Mexico is arguably one of those “shattered cultures” of which Quigley speaks, eh?
I like the way you think. We could party together.
With autocannons and particle beams.
Yep - a million millionaires, and a hundred million people that are dirt poor.
Twenty-odd years ago whoever was their president at the time (Vicente Fox?) waxed lyrical about how his people should be allowed to enjoy the “American Dream”.
Unfortunately, nobody asked him “Why is there no Mexican Dream?”.
‘Mexico cant change its image by sending another diplomat to Washington. It has to actually work to fix its internal problems. Once it gets a handle on the massive drug trade and pockets of crushing poverty, then its image will improve.’
This.
+1!
Sure does.
So you’re admitting you have no meaningful rebuttal to the actual content of what she said?
And he knows this, too.
ACCORDING TO THE GOVERNMENT OF MEXICO
IN A SWORN AFFIDAVIT TO A US COURT, MEXICO SWORE
THAT MEXICANS ON US SOIL ARE MEXICAN CITIZENS.
A sworn affidavit by Mexico/s Consul General to a Texas court asserts that Mexico/s official govt policy is to encourage its poor people to migrate here illegally in order to access our generous welfare system...... declaring that Mexico is responsible to protect its nationals wherever they may be residing.
A footnote states that Mexican nationality is granted to children born abroad of a Mexican born parent. IOW, anchor babies born in the US retain parents Mexican nationality.
The Mexican consul/s sworn testimony asserts that: "My responsibilities in this position include protecting the rights and promoting the interests of my fellow Mexican nationals, and, that the main responsibility of consulates is to provide services, assistance, and protection to Mexican nationals abroad."
=========================================
NOTE This also wipes out anchor babies......and DHS Secy, Jeh Johnson and Obama who say illegals have essentially "become American" b/c they go to school, have licenses to drive, and can even practice law in California.
Rozental's right - to change the image Mexico's got to change the reality.
It’s not Mexico, it’s the people that are in charge of the World Bank, the IMF, the BIS, and the Central Banks.
These people, who are real people with real names, are in an ‘academy’ together. They communicate through staffers, surrogates and managers to make policy and plans.
In the context of the above, the countries of North America are to be ‘equalized’. The United States and Mexico are to appear more uniform in terms of banking, industry, and labor.
The idea is that these policies of uniformity are to make regions of the world more stable and manageable.
A particular result is the mothballing and movement of entire industries of the United States to Mexico.
To help Mexico solve its poverty problem, it has been deemed necessary that industries be moved to set up shop there.
Here is an illustration:
A new business entity is registered in Mexico as ‘Ford Mexico’. A plan is made for Ford to set up shop in say Veracruz. The wages are less than 15% of the prevailing wages in the United States but that’s not enough. Ford wants investment incentives and guarantees.
The new business entity Ford Mexico and its Mexican Director hold meetings with a large bank in Mexico City. They choose or are instructed to use Banamex. Now Banamex is actually Citibank, it is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Citibank operated from New York.
Ford Mexico is told to create and register Mexican corporate bonds worth 60 billion pesos (about 2.5 billion USD) as the cost of establishing a large industrial production facility and operation in Veracruz. The bonds must be registered with the Mexican government who in turn demands that 40 percent of all investment be made in Mexican government bonds (a de facto tax that is credited back whenever the investment is closed out).
Ford Mexico reaches agreement with the Mexican government to exchange 40% of its bond issuance with Mexican government bonds. Mexico now owns 40 percent of the new entity.
Where does Ford Mexico obtain the 60 billion pesos? It obtains the funds from Banamex in Mexico City. Where does Banamex get the 60 billion pesos? It borrows the funds from Citibank at 2%. Where does Citibank get the funds? From the Federal Reserve at 0% or very close to 0%.
Thus, Ford and its Mexican subsidiary Ford Mexico are enabled to achieve a large industrial capacity in a region where labor is less than 15% of standard rates and at zero startup costs, all made possible ultimately by the NY Federal Reserve.
This is why Donald Trump has called for auditing the Federal Reserve, to expose the policy makers and beneficiaries who are shipping entire US industries offshore and mothballing them back at home.
Some would call it globalism but the people involved in doing it are making a killing, they think of themselves as smart businessmen. It’s part of the larger context of ‘carry trade’ that Donald is talking about taxing the hell out of.
Bond Traders in New York are pulling in as much as $250 million a year borrowing at near 0% and selling at about 2%, and paying almost no tax. And as far as they are concerned, to hell with the American worker because life is good for them and they are privileged insiders to the club. They pay no tax because they load up prospective debt issuance as pending liabilities that offset any revenue assets that stream to them. Once the music stops they are on the hook for a tax bill they cannot pay. Their exit plan is personal and corporate bankruptcy, and a move to a non-US jurisdiction where they have homes and bank accounts with surrogates.
The global entities such as the central bankers, the IMF, World Bank etc. are paid in transaction fees. Thus, they are in on the profits. It also fits a nice ‘narrative’ of eliminating poverty in the world. Donald is pointing out that the poverty eliminated comes at the expense of creating poverty in America, and he is spot on. As he says they are ‘ripping us’.
The appointment of this special Mexican ambassador is not new. It happened months ago in response to the Trump candidacy. This special envoy will surround himself with many dual citizen US-Mexican Ivy League grads and lawyers. They will be a voice that opposes all moves by the Trump people before the NY Fed and the US Government including Congress. There is nothing diplomatic in their mission. Their mission will be to spy and voice opposition, and offer incentives (bribes) where possible, to keep their part of the gravy train going.
That was almost too appalling to read. For decades the Political Class has ‘fixed’ every problem by making it worse. Still some can’t figure out why we need to go outside the DC Cartel and elect a businessman. SMH.
Thanks for the post, btw. Very informative.
Mexico had a good thing going. They shipped out their people, money came back in and the US Government looked the other way. But they were too stupid to lay low about it. They crowed about providing assistance, they griped publicly and loudly about any efforts to stop it and called people racists instead of just winking at the friends in DC and keeping quiet. They were arrogant in their disdain for our rules and for the people of the US and they hopefully will get their comeuppance soon.
Now they're finding out Donald Trump has taken political correctness, torn it to shreds, and ground all aspects of p/c under the heel of his custom-made shoes.
We should take over Mexico, develop the nation and use it’s resources. We’ve paid the price for it.
Great idea......let’s mention it to Pres Trump.
