In the wake of the New York primary, there is a sense that some of the GOP elites are making their peace with the Trumpocalypse. To be sure, some of the partys leaders are resisting Trumps faux charm offensive, but there is also a palpable mood of defeatism among the Invertebrate.
Yet in hallway chatter here, there was a growing sense of resignation about Trump as the nominee
That mood is likely to spread after this weeks expected primary wins for Trump in the northeast. Some party leaders arent waiting. Reince Priebus is calling on anti-Trump activists to unite behind him if he is the nominee. Even Marco Rubio , who surely understands the reality of Trumpism as well as anyone in national politics, now suggests he would back him in a general election.
All of this comes amid growing evidence of Trumps unelectability. Polls shows suggest he trails Hillary Clinton by double digits and analyses of the electoral college put the chances of a Clinton blowout somewhere between likely and O my God.
As Tim Carney notes : Trump would be the least-respected, least-liked major party nominee since polling began. As a result, anti-Trump groups rejected the call for rallying around a Trumpist GOP...

We can’t have that.
Trump will beat hillary. Easily.
Never Trump is really Never Stop The Cheap Labor Express.
Cruzloyalists are working for them whether they admit it or not.
That deeply concerns me.
Charlie Sykes...Baghdad Bob’s half brother.
If Trump is the “least liked” and least respected”, why is he running away with the popular votes and the delegates????
Well, bye. The sooner the hysterical never Trumpers are escorted from the building the better.
“some of the GOP elites are making their peace with the Trumpocalypse”
You know what I would tell you?
Trump will beat hillary. Easily.
And fumigate the RNC. Turn about is fair play. Time to blacklist these Dems in drag donors and their bought and paid for chattering class consultants.
Unless something unforeseen happens, I agree.
On a realistic level, Clinton is a very flawed candidate, and Trump is not afraid to point out her flaws, unlike the past two politically correct, mushy middle Republican nominees.
Wisconsin guys like this one made a terrible forecast that is now bearing fruit. They aren’t taken seriously.
The notion that a candidate can be attacked 24/7/365 by his own side AND by the other side AND by the vast majority of the media and NOT have his ‘favorability’ ratings suffer is not very perceptive.
Through it all, Trump continues to win. Despite these ratings, Trump pulled off and will continue to pull off landslides.
My sense is that something is wrong with the way these ‘favorability’ ratings are put together. I don’t think they are measuring what these people are attempting to convince us that they are measuring.
I’ve not seen the exact wording, but I’d like to.
What does it mean when you ask someone, “Do You like Donald Trump?” No.
“Who will you vote for?” Donald Trump.
You’ve got to admit. There is a bit of a disconnect there.
Does not concern me at all. Only fools buy those push polls designed to give Hillary a weak opponent, Like they done the same for decades.
Reality is Trump pulls more from every demographic then any GOP running, His claimed liabilities are assets to moderates and anti Hillary Democrats, and he will pick up tons of vengeful Sander’s voters.
Hillary has a turn-out problem. Trump pulls in new voters. When the only thing they have is such polls they really have nothing at all.
Charlie still thinks his opinion matters outside of Wisconsin,Sorry Charlie
I’ve seen a few of the roaches pop up today, deluded into thinking this is going to amount to anything.
One last time to shoot off their mouths before the mods show them the exit.
Not only does it not matter outside of Wisconsin, it doesn’t even matter outside of Milwaukee.
Folks who would have Hillary rather than Trump are delusional. This corrupt party needs to be blown apart
