Wilkes-Barre, PA
Wilkes-Barre was founded in 1769 and formally incorporated in 1806. The city grew rapidly after the discovery of nearby coal reserves and the arrival of hundreds of thousands of immigrants. The city reached the height of its prosperity in the first half of the 20th century when its population reached just over 86,000. Following World War II, the city's economy declined and the Knox Mine disaster accelerated this trend when large portions of the area's coal mines were flooded. Today the city has a population of 41,498, making it the 13th largest city in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

No Todays Trivia as I can barely keep up with this man posting where the rallies are with a few photos. So, like in times past, lets spend the day in prayer and meditation for Trump and his family, our precious country and the people that are the forum. Has anyone heard from our dear friend WVKayaker? Hes down under and was down under. Lets also give thanks to Jim Robinson for having the insite years ago to start this wonderful site. More than ever, its been a welcome retreat for many of us these past difficult 8 years.

Do you call it Wilkes BEAR or Wilkes BARRY? We always called it Wilkes BEAR but not long ago everyone decide to go with what it “looked like”. Wilkes Barry now.
USSS likely cannot wait til Trump is POTUS!!!
I agree!
Smart move!
Looks like a new young face by TRUMP in the USSS...Do you think they had to assign MORE to his detail?
There are THREE colleges in Wilkes-Barre; perhaps more now, than when I was in boarding school, but I know of three.
God, at least a few people have a sense of humor...I give up...
cRuz better not even think about doing this. I wish I was in PA to keep an eye on things with fellow PA FReepers.
We always called it “Wilkes-Barra.” Back in the Fifties and early Sixties, when we went to my uncle and aunt’s hunting lodge in Sullivan County, we had to drive through WB because it was long before they built a freeway through the city.
