Radio host Hugh Hewitt joined MSNBC’s Steve Kornacki Thursday morning to discuss what many have already predicted will happen, including Hewitt, when the GOP descends into Cleveland for their convention in July: a contested convention. Not only that, but Hewitt said that there’s no way Donald Trump gets to 1,237 delegates, even with the rosiest of scenarios for the slate of northeastern primaries next Tuesday, Indiana in May, and California in June. There are 15 states left in the GOP primary season.
Hewitt said he went state-by-state and gave Trump very generous amounts of delegates in his projection, including 51 of 59 of Indiana’s slate. Trump needs 392 delegates to clinch the nomination. Hewitt said Trump probably wouldn’t get any delegates in Nebraska, South Dakota, or Montana, which means in 14 out of the 15 contests left, the billionaire would only get 273–and it’s doubtful he will do well in California, in which he would need to win 119 of the 172 delegates in that contest. He added that it’s doubtful that Trump would get any more than 100 by the time Cruz, Trump, and Kasich duke it out in The Golden State, unless a “political asteroid” occurs.

I just saw that in 2008 John McCain got 42% of the vote and got 158 delegates. So going by this I say if polling hold Trump has this nomination square and fair by California unless Cruz carpet bombs California and make it glow.

In a lapse of judgement (and taste) I tuned into Hewitt for about 15 minutes and heard his analysis there. To which I thought: “So what.”
Before I get to that, however, it should be pointed out that Hewitt is a phony and a name dropper deluxe and a guy who is nothing but a shill for the establishment.
That said, if you read between the lines of Hewitt’s remarks, he admits that Trump will probably reach or get very close to 1100. Once that happens, Trump should be able to woo/corral enough of the uncommitted delegates to get to 1237.
Well that asteroid has Hillary’s face on it, and Hewitt is an idiot if he doesn’t see that one coming.

and I say that (just above).... having to acknowledge that DT has never been my choice of candidates (DT appears to have a number of leftist political instincts based on several of his comments)...
but again, if any candidate, including DT, winds up leading the pack... and gets over a 1000 delegates ....and is then NOT nominated, that will result in millions of R voters staying home, just as they did in 2008 and 2012
