WASHINGTON -- The National Enquirer has published what it says is conclusive evidence that Ted Cruz’s father, Rafael B. Cruz, is the man photographed next to JFK assassin Lee Harvey Oswald distributing pro-Castro leaflets in 1963 in New Orleans.
The Cruz presidential campaign fired back unequivocally. “This is another garbage story in a tabloid full of garbage,” communications director Alice Stewart told McClatchy. “The story is false; that is not Rafael in the picture.”
The explosive suggestion that Cruz’s father would have had any affiliation with Oswald is not corroborated in any other way. Cuban-born Rafael Cruz is now a fervent anti-communist, but there was a time he supported then-rebel leader Fidel Castro. His son, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, frequently relates his father’s arrest and torture by government officials and subsequent escape to the United States.
The elder Cruz ended up at the University of Texas at Austin and still supported Castro, who led the revolution that overthrew the Batista regime in 1959. Castro formally declared himself Marxist in 1961.
“The U.S. government was duped. The American people were duped. I was duped,” Rafael Cruz wrote in his book, “A Time for Action,” released in January. “When people ask me why I supported Castro in over-throwing the Cuban government, I readily admit that I didn’t realize he was a communist.”

However, you know what other stories were so outrageous as not to read?
The story about how the GOP and the Democrats were secretly in alignment and how they would never attack one another like they would attack an outsider.
The story about how Charles Koch was a willing part of a Kabuki Theater and that he was secretly an Establishment figure that would sooner vote for Hillary Clinton rather than Cruz or Trump.
The story about how many websites (TheRightScoop, Red State, and TownHall for examples) were actually establishment tools and not conservative like they pretended to be.
The story about how men would be allowed in little girl’s showers and bathrooms if they just claimed ‘transgender’.
So many outrageous stories!
This was circa 1960, when travel between the USA and Cuba was, to say the least, HIGHLY scrutinzed. NO ONE could have made trips between the two countries without the awareness and at least explicit acquiescence of the CIA.
While Rafael manages in "conservative" media a TOTAL lack of scrutiny (same as Obama's fathers, whose son like Rafael the Younger used an alias, and like Rafael the Younger entered the country illegally, and is foreign born to a nation to whom he holds allegiance), THIS bears some research. SOMETHING was going on. The collision of history in the cases of both foreign born Manchurian Candidates---Barry Soetoro and Rafael the Younger---creates to many questions, which, as with Obama, virtually no one in media will TOUCH. Rafael the Elder abandoned his family (as did Obama's father), Rafael the Elder was an alcoholic. What was Rafael doing in his absence. And why did they flee to Canada. So many questions. How did either Obama OR Rafael the Younger afford to attend and reside at PRINCETON AND HARVARD?? Just one of many, many questions. How did either zoom up from minor local bureaucrats to less than one term as senator and then seek the presidency??
Oh, by all means, lets give up a wall on our southern border, deportation of many illegals, and solid support for the Second Amendment because Trump called Hillary a good SOS four years ago!
This info was on the Anna-Tomerlin face book page prior to being in the Enquirer. Fact: It states picture is Ted Cruz’s father - It does not say allegedly is Ted Cruz’s father. I have not heard or seen any attempt from the Cruz campaign to shut this down. That would make me think there is some truth. See post 85
You can’t make this stuff up. Actually, I did. I said just yesterday that pretty soon they’d have St. Ted as the “Umbrella Man” at Dealey Plaza.
Reading through the thread, there's a lot of terrific information it's generating. There's nothing invalid about exploring the CIA connection to events of the time.
It’s a little beyond the pale, bro, and we are BOTH not exactly fans of Turd Cruz.
It is ALWAYS extremely wise to trash the mayor of the the city you do the most business in.
