ROME Just what is it that the Vatican does not get about predator priests? Apparently a lot.
Father Joseph Jeyapaul is a priest from India who admitted to raping two adolescent girls in Minnesota when he served the Crookston diocese from 2004 to 2005.
After being charged with the abuse, which included rape and forcing at least one of the girls to perform fellatio on him, he fled home to India, where he was eventually arrested on an Interpol warrant. He was then extradited back to Minnesota, where he admitted his heinous crimes and entered a plea bargain in which, in exchange for a lighter sentence, he copped to molestation of one of the girls.
Jeyapaul was suspended from the priesthood and served a year and a day in prison in Minnesota, then was deported back to India after his release last July. The Minnesota diocese where he worked also settled a civil lawsuit with the victims in which one accused him of systematic abuse in the confessional of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Greenbush, Minnesota, where he would then tell the girl it was her fault, that she had made him impure.
How much more proof would one need that the man cannot be trusted with minors?
Apparently, Jeyapauls rap sheet is not enough to kick him out of the priesthood for good. In February, the Vatican approved lifting his suspension from the priesthood and agreed that he could be reassigned to a new parish in India. That parish even made him the diocesan head of its commission for education.

“This article is a good example of why people hate organized religionand have little or no respect for the clergy in general. The church as an institution is a greedy, corrupt, thing.. Many good people in it however.”
Exactly! “greedy, corrupt thing” is an apt description.
He and his enablers need to face much more serious consequences. Yes, and his enablers, church and state, all of them.
Not this article alone. The Catholic faith has been mired in centuries of scandal, murderous acts, debauchery, bribes, rape and all the while the “Pope” reigning over such a display of silent approval gives his bishops cardinals and priests a pass.
The Catholic religion (mind you religion is man made) and its criminal hypocrisy goes clear back to the Rennaisannce and forward. Then it was murder to move into the papacy now it is a blind eye to child molestation.
They also need to bring back excommunication. Anyone convicted of such a terrible crime while acting under the authority of the church is a reprobate and is beyond redemption.
Let no one speak his name, shun him and let God smite him on judgement day.
Starting in the 60s, when the Soviets began the American "cultural revolution" and subsequently won.
Do you not remember "God is dead"?
And the rest of humanity is without sin. Got it.
Fine with me, as long as no other churches get tax-exempt status.
It would be better that way because churches would be free to take political stands since there would be nothing the government could do to stop them.
As it is, only black churches get to participate in politics, and only if it is Demonorat politics.
The difference is that the RCC claims it is God’s only true church, created by Jesus himself. That means you don’t get to say everyone’s else is just as bad.
No but with the Catholic faith you can repeat repeat and repeat these same acts, confess to a priest, start at 0 and do it all over again.
The Catholic religion is one hypocrisy after another
That said, he shouldnt be on any assignments that even remotely have children there.
I'm not HRC but I have stayed at the Abbey of Gethsemani in Bardstown. That would be a good place for a reprobate to work in the fields, sit in a cell and pray for the rest of his life.
Pope Francis’ values
Perhaps, or perhaps not. The LCMS just had its calls, and there were enough for all those coming out of seminary, and then some--in short, "orthodox" Lutheran parishes need more pastors than they have, and needless to say Lutheran pastors can be married.
They never WERE priests “after the order of Melchizedek”. That designation belongs to Christ alone. Catholic priests, if anything, share similarities with the Aaronic priesthood...which was SET ASIDE when Someone superior replaced it.
Follow Psalm 110 to Hebrews. All is explained.
Well, well, well....
Now we can see how serious the Catholic church is about it’s predator priest issue.
And the Catholic church is irresponsible with that policy. It violates the Scripture they claim to have written.
God is clear that men with moral issues are NOT to be in positions of leadership in the church.
1 Corinthians 5 and passages in Timothy and Titus address that as well.
If rape and the subsequent abuse in the confessional doesn't qualify as a *serious offense*, then what the heck for the Catholic church consider one to be?
Oh, I know. Getting legally married. You'll lose your priesthood for that sure enough.
They’re back in business. No way would I take my kids to a catholic “church” pushing pedophiles.
Odd how they don’t put back the priests who steal large sums of money from the Church...
“They also need to bring back excommunication.”
They never got rid of excommunication.
“Anyone convicted of such a terrible crime while acting under the authority of the church is a reprobate and is beyond redemption.”
Technically, no one is beyond redemption as long as he is still alive.
“Let no one speak his name, shun him and let God smite him on judgement day.”
And if he repents?
