Funny when I voted ben carson was on the ballot, trickery is at hand here
Well I want him to stay in. While he may be eliminated from the first round of voting, he is not eliminated from the nomination. Besides, we are better of as long as there is at least one conservative in the race.
Cruz only thinks he is going to stay in. After the next 5-6 primary defeats the calls for him to get out will be loud and clear. He will be forced out or totally destroy his career. The voters are going to turn on him bigtime if he tries to take this to convention.
They dropped out because they were underperforming which led to campaign organization implosions and lack of funding. Cruz DOES have plenty of funding and a good organization which can sustain him to the convention.
Precisely. He has put ambition ahead of everything else
Santorum could have stayed in too I guess. He suspended on 4/10/12 but Romney didn’t get to the magic delegate number until June 5th of that year.
Trump is the presumptive nominee and Cruz is an asterisk, like Kasich. They are mathematically eliminated.
Its time to unite behind the only viable candidate, if we are to win in November. Thats Donald Trump. The power now is in unity. All Aboard!!!
Cheers!
What response have I gotten?
Crickets.
These Ted Cruz fanboys know the truth, as does their preferred candidate, Ted Cruz, and yet they still insist on their suicidal quest to both wreck their own party and even risk their country, all for one man's blind personal ambition. Absolutely shameful.
It would be laughable if it weren't so dangerous.
At this point, Ted Cruz's egotism and narcissism make Donald Trump's ostensible character deficits pale in comparison. They long ago ceded the moral high ground.
Vote Trump
I agree that he’s betrayed the grassroots and personally believe he suspects the GOPe will not vote him in if it goes to a contested convention.
Neither Rubio or Carson had received the endorsement and strategy advisers from the Bush family or the GOPe.
Trump has won exactly nothing. The master of the “art of the deal” should probably be aware that you actually have to CLOSE the deal.
I want Cruz to stay in...he realizes that it will take conservatism to save the country and if he bails there will not be a conservative left in the race.
The Rosy-Cruzians are blowing smoke. They are nothing but dead enders living in the past.
Cruz is underperforming. He has no shot at 1237. He can’t WIN the nomination. The only thing he can accomplish at this point is destroy the party and therefore allow Hillary to win and to destroy the nation.
Cruz is no conservative. He does not put America first. If he did, he would concede and save the nation a whole lot of turmoil. We need to stop the destruction and unite against Hillary.
I understand your frustration. It is high time to bring unity to the Republican primary.
Unfortunately, it is a very hard pill to swallow if Trump is already moving left before the general.
I expect to vote for Trump in November because he is the most likely candidate to win the nomination, and he is far more conservative than anyone the Democratic party will put forward.
But that is not so conservative that I am enthusiastic about Trump. I want to support him. Would really like to have more confidence in his commitment to govern conservatively. Past few days have not been encouraging.
Is it too late to hope for a Trump-Cruz ticket?
Was not Abraham Lincoln mathematically eliminated from the 1860 (R) nomination until the 3rd ballot?
Did Abraham Lincoln betray the grassroots of his day by not leaving the race when he was mathematically eliminated going into the convention?
FReegards!
We’ve had brokered conventions before. In 1924, the Democrats had 103 rounds of voting before reaching a nomination. Cruz is, in his own words, a driven guy. I don’t see anything nefarious going on here. I would rather have someone who understands how the inside works rather than a man who lacks a core set of principles (Trump).
The US is not a direct democracy. It’s a republic, meaning that people vote for others to represent us. You distrust Cruz; I distrust Trump. I think that’s all there is to it.
Perhaps, but he is more conservative than any other candidate in the race. And since I am a conservative myself, I will vote and support the most conservative candidate I can.
“Was not Abraham Lincoln mathematically eliminated from the 1860 (R) nomination until the 3rd ballot?”
Apparently I have to state the obvious.
Today’s traditions are different, the expectations of the Republican voters are different, and a nomination in the style of the 1860s will not be tolerated by many Republican voters who bothered to vote, enough to guarantee the election of the Democrat.
Is that clear enough?
No, that’s not all there is to it. One of them has vastly superior support from the electorate.
